A rare treasure it can be used for weddings, music and cultural events, seminars, filming and other events. 1848 Zion Episcopal Church is managed by Zion Church Restoration, Inc. In 2019, the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta deeded Zion Church to the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation who then in turn deeded it to Zion Church Restoration. The exterior of Zion was in critical condition. We comple
ted in early Nov. 2020 a $257,000 exterior restoration. The inside is in remarkable condition. It is also home to an 1850's Pilcher Organ - the only one of that model working in the United States. There are additional projects to complete at Zion as well as ongoing care and operation costs. Funds are always needed. The church has not had an on-site congregation in decades. Although services by any denomination are welcome at Zion Church, Zion is available for many uses. Our vision: To preserve Zion church for current and future generations. To be an integral part of the Talbotton community by offering to and engaging the broader community in events focused on music, the arts, history and architecture. Tours are welcome and can be arranged. We are following COVID safety guidelines. At this moment small groups of ten are welcomed and masks are required.
