One year ago today in Dallas, Texas. ❤️

There are moments in life you know you will remember forever.

We walked into Melissa’s hospital room to pray beside a woman we desperately loved whose life was hanging in the balance.

We walked out—and learned a perfect-match heart had been found.

Today we pause in the middle of a journey that is still unfolding to LOOK BACK.

To remember the prayers.
The worship.
The tears.
The impossible circumstances.
And the mighty faithfulness of God.

I had to be UNTAUGHT.

When I brought my first baby home, I honestly didn’t know what I was supposed to do with him all day.

I had absorbed a script I didn’t even know I was running.

Successful women went OUT. Built careers. Carried briefcases. Did “important” things.
Babies got dropped off.
The church discipled the kids.
The experts knew best.
And good Christian families followed the program.🤷‍♀️

I didn’t realize that culture, generations and even people who deeply loved me had been quietly installing an operating system in me for years.😮

I spent years being relentlessly bullied—and only in retrospect can I see how that perpetual pounding was working to dull my edge, destroy my confidence, and silence something God had placed inside me.

That’s one more reason I believe so fiercely in intentional parenting from DAY ONE.
