One of U.P.’s most beloved traditions is returning in 2026! The C***r Squeeze will be held
at Curran Apple Orchard on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Because of a limited number of presses, beginning Sunday, Aug. 16 members of the general public who would like to take home fresh pressed c***r can pre-register for one 15-minute press time slot beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing through 1:45 p.m. Email your preferred time to [email protected] and whether you’d like to use a fast “electric” press or a manual press you crank. You will receive a confirmation email. Any remaining slots will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Be sure to bring picking bags and clean jugs for the c***r (or purchase gallon jugs with cash the day of the event). Apples will be available for sale (cash only) for those who do not wish to pick their own. Apples can only be picked from trees that are not adopted by individuals, with up to two crates allowed—either for pressing or to take home. Homegrown or store bought apples are not allowed. Volunteers are needed for the day of the event as well as the day before. Email
[email protected] with your availability. This is a great opportunity for high school students to earn community service hours.

Responding to the Spokane Area Wildfires

On the afternoon of August 1, 2026, a series of wildfires broke out across the Spokane area, and within days, hundreds of homes and lives were forever changed. The Old Trails Fire, the Autumn Lane Fire, and the Fairview Fire all ignited within hours of each other. First responders mobilized immediately, but a “particularly dangerous situation” alert for red flag conditions on Saturday allowed the fires to grow rapidly to thousands of acres. Crews worked through the night to protect homes and evacuate residents as the fires spread.

Roughly a week later, the Spokane Area Fires have burned a reported 10,436 acres and confirmed 630 damaged structures including residences. While containment continues to increase, the road to recovery for affected families, congregations, and communities is only beginning.

In moments like these, the strength of our connection matters. Your prayers, your presence, and your gifts make it possible for the PNW Conference to walk alongside those who have lost so much, now and in the months and years of rebuilding ahead.
