There are many ways to say, “I love you,” and some of them we may never learn until we make room for people whose cultures, stories, and experiences are different from our own.

The family of Jesus is not formed by erasing those differences or deciding that one culture matters more than another. We belong because of Jesus. As we share life together, we get to learn from, receive, and enjoy the gifts God has placed in one another.

Who has taught you a new way to show love?

For generations, belonging to God’s covenant family seemed to have clear boundaries. Then Jesus opened the way for people from every nation, culture, and background to belong.

The early church had to wrestle with a difficult question: Did someone need to become Jewish before they could fully follow Jesus?

Paul’s answer was clear. We are not made right with God because of our heritage, traditions, accomplishments, or ability to follow the rules. We belong because of Jesus and what He has done.

Following Jesus does not require us to erase our cultures. We can celebrate the languages, traditions, stories, and communities that have shaped us while allowing our identity in Christ to bring us into one beautifully diverse family.

When we listen to people whose experiences are different from ours, we discover new ways to love, serve, worship, and reflect the heart of God.

So, this week, consider:

Who might you be overlooking or keeping at a distance?

What could you learn by listening to someone from another culture or background?

Who is God inviting you to see more clearly?

In Christ, the invitation is open, and there is room at the table.

What a gift it was to gather as one RVCC family last Sunday!

We celebrated Nico's Speed Corn victory, witnessed a baptism, honored our grads and dads, and enjoyed being together as one church. We are also grateful for the Difference Makers from both campuses who served side by side.

Here is what you need to know for the next two Sundays:

Sunday, June 28

We will gather just like last week.

**RVCC Kids:** Programming for birth through 5th grade will be available during both services.

**Middle School:** Students will meet upstairs during the 10:30am service.

**High School:** Students will join the adults in the auditorium.

Parents can check children in electronically at one of the kiosks. Have questions when you arrive? Look for someone wearing a lanyard. We would love to help!

Sunday, July 5

We will gather again at RVCC Graham at 9:00 and 10:30am.

**Nursery and Preschool:** Programming will be available for children from birth through 5 years old.

**Elementary:** Children in kindergarten through 5th grade will attend service with their parents. Activity boxes will be available.

**Middle and High School:** All students will attend service in the auditorium.

All RVCC students will meet at RVCC Graham on:

Transportation will leave the Parkland Campus at 6:15pm and return around 8:15pm.

At this time, we do not have a projected date for returning to Sunday services at Parkland. The restoration process has begun, and we are thankful for everyone working alongside us. Thank you for your patience, prayers, and continued support.

It has also been wonderful to hear laughter and fun filling both campuses during VBS this week. God continues to bring joy and life into this unexpected season.

Happy Father’s Day!

Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, mentors, and spiritual fathers who reflect the love of God through their presence, patience, strength, and care.

We are grateful for the men who show up, lead with humility, offer wisdom, and help shape the next generation to know and follow Jesus.

We also recognize that today may hold grief, complicated emotions, or unfulfilled hopes for some. Wherever you find yourself, may you be reminded that you are seen, loved, and held by your heavenly Father.

Thank you to every man who chooses to love, serve, guide, and encourage others. Your faithfulness matters more than you know.

Maybe you are tired because you have spent so long trying to become what everyone else needed you to be.

Strong enough. Successful enough. Spiritual enough. Helpful enough. Easy enough to love.

But rescue does not begin with your accomplishments. It begins when you realize you cannot save yourself—and you do not have to.

When someone is caught in a riptide, the answer is not to swim harder until they earn their way back to shore. Rescue comes from outside of them. Someone enters the water. Someone carries what they no longer have the strength to carry.

This is the heart of the Gospel.

Jesus did not come to congratulate the people who had proven themselves. He came for the weary, the overwhelmed, the wandering, and the ones who had finally run out of strength.

You do not have to perform for his love.
You do not have to become someone else to be received.
You do not have to prove that you are worth rescuing.

You are allowed to stop fighting long enough to be held.

Grace is not a reward for finally getting everything right. It is the rescue that meets you when you cannot keep yourself afloat.

You are not your accomplishments. You are not everyone else’s expectations. You are someone deeply loved by God—and you do not have to earn your way home.

Juneteenth invites us to remember that freedom matters to God.

It calls us to pause and tell the truth: the road toward restoration is long, and becoming a church that reflects the beauty of God’s Kingdom will require humility, repentance, and formation. A multi-ethnic church is not powerful because it looks diverse on the outside. It is powerful because it pushes us to love beyond ourselves, to listen when we do not fully understand, and to make room for the stories, pain, dignity, and God-given image of our brothers and sisters.

We will not always get it right. We will sometimes fail to grasp the heartache others carry. We will sometimes center ourselves when we should be learning how to love more faithfully. But if we want to be formed by the whole Gospel, we cannot keep settling for a version of faith that leaves restoration far off in the distance.

God’s Kingdom is one where every tribe, tongue, and nation belong at the table. So we keep becoming. We keep listening. We keep repenting. We keep making room. Because our formation depends on it, and so does our witness.

This Juneteenth, may we remember that freedom, justice, and belonging are not side conversations in the life of faith. They are part of the restoration God is bringing near.

IMPORTANT RVCC SERVICE UPDATE

RVCC Family, as many of you have heard, there was a small fire at our Parkland Campus yesterday. We are thankful it was caught early and that everyone is safe.

We are incredibly grateful for the members of our church and local community who showed up to help care for our campus and one another. Thank you for your prayers, support, and the many ways you stepped in.

Because of damage to the Parkland sanctuary, we will gather as one church in one location this Sunday, June 21!

This feels less like a checklist and more like an invitation to let God gently search us.

At the end of the day, we might ask: How did I receive the people in front of me? Was I truly present, or was I distracted by my own plans, fears, and assumptions? Did I make room for someone outside my usual circle? Where did I offer the love of Jesus—and where might I need his grace to begin again tomorrow?

You do not have to have all your beliefs figured out to reflect honestly on the way you moved through the world today. And for those of us who have followed Jesus for years, spiritual maturity is not simply measured by what we know. It is revealed in how we notice, welcome, listen to, and love others.

Take a quiet moment tonight. Let go of the need to defend or condemn yourself. Simply ask God to show you what was good, what needs healing, and who he may be inviting you to see differently tomorrow.

We all make compromises in life. Waiting in lines, sitting through bad trailers, navigating imperfect relationships. But there's ONE place we can never compromise: the gospel.

The early church in Galatia struggled with this very issue. They knew Jesus saves, but they kept trying to add "something extra" to salvation. Paul's response? The moment you try to improve on Jesus, you lose the gospel. It's not Jesus PLUS anything. It's just Jesus. Period.

Who has influence in your life? Are they pointing you to Christ alone, or to Jesus and something else? This week, take inventory of the voices speaking into your decisions. Spiritual, financial, relational. If anyone is saying you need more than Jesus to be saved, it's time to run.

The gospel gives us freedom and life. Pleasing people just brings a heavier weight. You are fully loved by God right now, exactly where you are. That's the good news worth holding onto.
