Parkland Evangelical Lutheran Church was established in the Parkland community just four years after Washington became a state. As a Lutheran congregation, we are committed to the Lutheran Confessions. Our theology and practice are governed by the principles of Faith Alone, Grace Alone, and Scripture Alone. The Bible is our only source of doctrine, and its primary teaching is salvation by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ.

At Sunday's Divine Service and Parkland Lutheran School's 8th Grade Graduation, we were reminded that life's tests don't end at graduation.

David faced a difficult test when King Saul unjustly sought his life. Instead of taking matters into his own hands, David trusted the Lord to deliver him. In the same way, we face daily temptations to trust ourselves, seek revenge, or doubt God's promises when life becomes difficult.

But God has not left us to face those tests alone. Jesus perfectly trusted His Father in every situation, even while suffering injustice and death on the cross. He passed the test we could never pass and won forgiveness, righteousness, and salvation for us.

As our graduates begin a new chapter, and as all Christians continue their journey through life, we can face every challenge with confidence. Christ has already secured the victory.

The First Sunday After Trinity

06/04/2026

As the school year comes to a close, we thank God for another year of learning, growth, friendships, and time spent in His Word at Parkland Lutheran School.

From the classroom to chapel, athletics to special events, this year has been filled with opportunities for students to grow academically, socially, and spiritually.

We give thanks for our students, families, teachers, and staff who make Parkland such a special community. “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised.” Psalm 145:3

When you face a giant, where do you look for help?

The account of David and Goliath is often told as a story about an underdog overcoming impossible odds. But the focus of the story is not David. The focus is God.

Like the Israelites, we can be tempted to trust in our own strength when things are going well or lose hope when challenges seem too great. But David understood that victory comes from the Lord. The same God who delivered David is the God who fights for His people today.

Our greatest enemy was never Goliath. It was our sin. Yet God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to win the victory we could never achieve on our own. Through His perfect life, death, and resurrection, Jesus defeated sin, death, and the devil for us.

No matter what you are facing, take heart. The battle belongs to the Lord, and in Christ, the victory is already won.

You’re invited to worship with us this Trinity Sunday.

On this day, we confess the one true God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who has created, redeemed, and sanctified us. In the Divine Service, God comes to serve us through His Word and Sacraments, giving the forgiveness won for us in Christ and strengthening our faith.

Join us as we gather to receive His gifts and give Him thanks and praise.

Divine Service // 9:30 am

Please note: There will be no Sunday School or Bible Class.

What keeps your faith alive?

The Holy Spirit is not just a moment in the past. He is still at work today.

By nature, we are weak and easily distracted from God’s Word. But the Holy Spirit comes through that Word to create faith, strengthen it, and keep us in Christ. Even when we fall into sin, God does not abandon us. Instead, He calls us back to repentance and points us again to Jesus.

On the cross, Jesus endured separation from the Father so that you never would. Because of Him, your sins are forgiven, and your faith is sustained by the Spirit’s ongoing work.
