Bethany United Methodist Church

Bethany United Methodist Church God has called us to Belong to a community of faith, to Believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ, to Become disciples that will serve the world. Please join us!

Bethany UMC is a neighborhood church that feels like a family, and looks like a church! We practice the United Methodist slogan -
"Open hearts, Open doors, Open minds". You will be warmly welcomed here whether you come with toddlers or by yourself. In this church you have permission to laugh! We have a thriving food bank that serves our community, along with other Programs & Activities of interest

. Recently, we have installed a new sound system along with two large video monitors to aid in worship and singing hymns. Bethany United Methodist Church celebrated our 110 year anniversary in 2014. We have a long history serving the community going back to 1904. I want to personally invite you to our
Sunday Worship Service that begins at 11:30AM. We are located one block south of south 56th street on Park Ave. in Tacoma, Washington. A Safeway store is 1 block north. Our address is 5634 South Park Ave., Tacoma, WA 98408. We have curb-side parking in front of the church along with two small parking lots in the rear. Here are a few things to help you during the worship service:

We welcome children at the worship service. If at any time you would feel more comfortable if your little ones were in the nursery, an usher would be glad to direct you. We do have some people here with allergies, so the next time you come, we request that you refrain from wearing fragrances. Although our building appears very large from the outside, the sanctuary is surprisingly modest by today's standards and thus projects a more intimate feeling with your fellow attendees. You may enter either from the front or through the right side double glass doors and walk up one flight of stairs. We also have a wheelchair ramp accessible from the left rear (south) parking area. The rear of the building hosts many meeting rooms and offices as well as our Children's Nursery, and Friendship Room where we meet after every Sunday service for food and refreshments. Come join your voice and talents to ours. Make worship a joyful noise unto the Lord!

Happy 1st Sunday after Easter. this is a worship service prepared by our Annual Conference to give some of us a week off. Celebrate Easter with many throughout the entire Pacific Northwest, including Alaska, Idaho, and Oregon. I should also note that our regular online worship will be changing due to the fact that some churches are getting ready to reopen to in person worship.

Jesus is Risen!! The grave could not hold Jesus! Have a great day! Have a great Easter Season! God is alive and Jesus is risen. Three women went to bury their loved leader and found the tomb empty. Today we consider the shock and confusion of those women and the rest of the disciples. Celebrate Easter with us! Think about what the resurrection means. Jesus is risen.

Welcome to Palm Sunday and Passion Sunday worship. We start with Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem when the people waved palm branches and sang hosannas. We then go through the week of Jesus' betrayal, torture, crucifixion, death, and burial in the tomb. This is our time to consider what was expected, what happened, and to finish preparing ourselves for Jesus' coming resurrection. Thank you for joining us this morning.

We continue our journey through the desert with Jesus as we pass through the 40 days of Lent. Thank you for joining us. Today we ask three questions: Who was Jesus? Who hanged Jesus on the cross? And then what happened? We hope that you find new insight and spiritual uplift as you join us in worship this morning.

As we continue through Lent, we welcome you to worship. Today we look at sins from our past feeding sins of the present time. We also work at facing our sins, and asking God for forgiveness to move on through Lent to prepare ourselves for the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus at Easter. Again, welcome to worship. We hope that you find some spiritual enlightenment through the worship.

As we walk through the 40 days of Lent with Jesus, today we ponder the good news of the cross. May God be present with us as we worship and may God bless us with new insight and understanding. Thank you for joining us on this 3rd Sunday of Lent. Not only does God love you, but there is always hope in Jesus.

Here is worship for the second Sunday in Lent from Bethany United Methodist Church and The Bridge United Methodist Church. As we prepare for Easter in these 40 days of Lent, this week we struggle with the suffering of Christ and how we join Christ in suffering for the world we live in . We hope that you grow in Spirit and find God's voice in worship with us today. Thank you for joining us.
