Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry has issued his first in a series of monthly messages that will continue through the end of this year under the title "All Together in One Place."

Each message will share a pastoral word, rooted in Scripture, that witnesses to God’s presence today, our rich theological tradition and the social teaching that connects us.

Yesterday and today members from across the Southwestern Washington Synod gathered to learn from Pastor Christy LohrSapp of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem about her ministry, and more broadly about Sumud.

We are grateful for Pastor Christy’s witness, her insights into the ministries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land, and her invitation to deepen our connection with our the churches and people of the ELCJHL.

Thank you to St Marks by the Narrows, Tacoma and Faith, Shelton for hosting and to all who joined us for these meaningful conversations. May we continue to seek ways to embody Christ’s call to justice, peace, and reconciliation in our world.

The first of two Synod Educational Gatherings took place today at Messiah Lutheran Church in Vancouver. It was a great day of learning, connecting, and gathering together as a synod to explore stewardship and our shared ministry.

Thank you to Grace Pomroy from Luther Seminary for serving as our keynote speaker and sharing her wisdom and insight.

If you missed today’s gathering, there is still another opportunity to participate on June 13 at Christ Lutheran Church. We hope you’ll join us!

We pray tonight for all those impacted by the explosion in Longview. Be with those who are injured, afraid, grieving, or waiting for answers. Strengthen and protect first responders, medical staff, and all caring for the community in this moment.

Bring peace where there is fear, healing where there is pain, and hope in the midst of uncertainty.

Bishop Keith

Fire officials confirmed at least one person died in the implosion and nine employees remain unaccounted for. A pastor spoke to KING 5 about one of the victims.
