Hi. Haven't posted in a while, and I thought I might resume a bit now.
I've had to move from Seattle to Tacoma because of soaring rent prices, and I have to say I'm pretty happy I've moved here. I like the town. Among other things it's got the best waterfront in the Pacific Northwest. I like the people, and most importantly, I can afford to run
a Zen Center here. Trikaya Zen Center's new home is just off one of the main streets in town here: Sixth Avenue.
I'm open Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 in the morning, as well as Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6:00 in the evening. Evening sittings are pretty much sitting in Zazen 'meditation' while the weekends are more informal usually with a talk, or discussion as well as some sitting.
If anybody in the area has an interest in this, by all means come down and see how you like the place

Hi Everbody. Just so you know Tomorrow's the last talk before I travel to Ameland for the Kanzeon Mahasangha Gathering.
I'll be presenting a koan from the "Transmission of the Lamp". Number 31 Dai Doshin: "Who is it that binds you."

Hope to see you there.

Happy New Year everybody.
Just to let you know, we'll be open tomorrow morning Sunday Jan 2. I thought I'd do this koan tomorrow as it touches on a couple of points I've been nattering on about for the past few months. Its case 32 from the "Book Of Equanimity" or "Shoyo Roku": Kyozans State of Mind.
Attention. Kyozan asked a monk "Where were you born?"

01/01/2011

The monk replied "Yu province"
Kyozan asked "Do you think of it"
The monk replied "I think of it always"
Kyozan said. "Subjective thought is mind. Objective thought is surroundings, in that such things are mountains, rivers, the great earth, towers buildings, people and animals. Reflect on the mind that thinks. Isn't something there?"
The monk said, "As for that I don't see anything at all."
