After Pentecost’s “blast off,” we paused to ask:
What made it all possible?
We’ve seen God create, redeem, and sustain.
We know who God is—not perfectly, but enough.
Enough to trust.
Enough to love.
Enough to live God’s vision of shalom in the world.
💡 The Spirit didn’t come so we’d understand everything—
…but so we’d finally understand enough to begin.

One of the ways that we try to facilitate Shalom here at CEH is through our Community Outreach Affiliates. These are non-profits and service providers whose own mission aligns with our Mission, Vision, and Values. Are any of these affiliates new to you? Comment below!

Our church is also closed to honor Memorial Day. 🙏

Mountain Family Center's offices, food pantries, Grand Seniors and Main Street Thrift will be closed for Memorial Day, as we honor our soldiers and veterans. We hope everyone is able to enjoy the holiday, and we will reopen on Tuesday, May 26.

Jan 06 post
Who are the magi among us today—
those willing to cross borders for truth and love?

Who are the Marys,
holding the Christ child in fragile arms,
waiting for a knock at the door?

Who are the Herods,
terrified their illegitimate power might be exposed by the light?

In the face of fear, let us travel together.
Let us defy empire not with swords,
but with solidarity.

Let us kneel in awe,
not before the powerful,
but before the powerless Christ,
whose birth marks the beginning of God’s peace campaign.

Let us believe, with trembling hope,
that fear does not have the last word.

Because fear doesn’t stop us.
Love leads us forward.

—Rev. Dr. Boyung Lee, from her commentary on Matthew 2:1-12, 16-18 |
