Many of you have watched if not heard of, Unorthodox. Originally a book by Deborah Feldman, it was recently made into a mini series by Netflix, followed by other shows depicting the Torah Observant-Orthodox community. Sadly, most of these dramas are one-sided and biased, leaving viewers with the wrong impressions of what Torah Observant- Orthodox Judaism is all about. That’s why we at Chabad are super excited to bring Sara Berkovic to you in Syracuse, where you will get to meet her and hear her story of what made her return to her Orthodox roots, while staying true to herself.

We want to make sure your quetions are answered, so please pre-email them to [email protected]. To RSVP for the event, please go to Chabadsyracuse.com/SBsatnight.

Parshat Toldot:

Our forefather Isaac grows old, his eyes grow dim.

He wishes to confer profound blessings upon his firstborn son.

But his blindness prevents him from identifying his son of choice.

Is it his eldest or his youngest standing before him?

He listens.
That voice is clearly Jacob!

He reaches out.
Those arms belong to Esau!

Which of his senses should he trust?

Isaac choses tangibility of limbs over audibility of lips.

Words ring with promise and sing of hope, but their blessings remain intangible.

Don’t pay lip service.
Go out on a limb.
Arm yourselves with action.

Last Year, Chabad was prepared to host a Mega out door a Simchat Torah celebration. G-D had other plans, as the University was required to go into lock down. We did Simchat Torah to-go, and tried making everyone’s holiday as festive as possibly. But it wasn’t the same. This year, we are back, ready to do it bigger and better.
