Here we are with Easter coming up this weekend, and Awana approaching our last month before the summer break. I want to remind you of the schedule for Awana at SBC for the rest of the club year.

1. Awards Night will be held at the Fair Center in Syracuse on Wednesday evening April 28 starting at 7 pm. We will need the clubbers there and seated by 6:50 so we can start promptly at 7. This is awards night is for all clubs, and cookies will be served at the end of the program. Please make sure the clubbers are in full uniform that night for the program.

2, For Cubbies, Mary Kay will give you any announcements that you may need to know.

3. The theme for next week (April 7) for Wednesday Night Clubs is Easter Egg Night. The clubber can earn Easter Eggs for reciting memory verses that night. This would be a great time to catch up if your clubber is not on track to finish their book for the year. While catching up they can earn Easter Eggs. In order to receive the book Award at the Awards program, they will need to have their book finished the night of April 21. Let us know if your clubber needs any additional help and we will see to it they get it.

4. For T&T, the schedule to finish the book for the year is as follows: March 31-Sec 4:4, April 7- Sec 4:5, April 14-Sec 4:6, and for April 21-Sec 4:7 and 4:8. The clubbers are welcome and encouraged to say as many verses as they can for the future lessons on April 7th, as they will earn Easter Eggs that evening. They will still need to finish their book work for each lesson in order to get full credit for those sections. We are going to get the T&T clubbers caught up on their badges for their uniforms ASAP so they can be in full uniform for the Awards Program.

5. For Wednesday Night Clubs, I have encouraged each clubber to recite the books of the Bible for an additional reward on Awards Night. For Sparks they need to say the New Testament books only, and for T&T they need to say all 66 books of the Bible. They will need to say it without error in one sitting in front of their fellow clubbers and leaders. Please encourage your clubbers to do this if they feel comfortable doing it.

Again, thanks again for sending you sons and daughters to club. I feel at ease speaking for all the leaders, that we consider it an honor to work with you kids in learning what the Bible has to say to each of us, while having a lot of fun. It has been a challenging year in some aspects, but it also has been a blessing, and your kids have blessed us. We encourage any and all family to attend the Awards Night on April 28.

As always, let me know if you have anything you would like to discuss.

In Christs love,

Larry

Hello Everyone,

I hope and pray everyone is doing well. I wanted to update you on the latest when it comes to all of the Awana Clubs at Syracuse Bible Church.

1. Tonight for (Cubbies) and tomorrow night for (Sparks and T&T) we will continue to raise money for the local Food Pantry. This is part of our Souper Bowl week which we have traditionally had clubbers bring in non-perishable food. Because of the pandemic, they do not want food to be brought in and so are requesting cash. This will be the last night of the fundraiser. Please consider having your clubber bring in cash to give to the local food pantry this week!

2. This week is also a theme night for each club because it is the 1st night of club for the month . Cubbies will be doing Wacky Hair Night and Sparks and T&T will be doing Black Out Night. If you are a Sparks or T&T, please bring a flashlight.

3. We still have not scheduled the Awana Grand Prix for the year. If you have any thoughts or opinions about scheduling this event please let me know.

4. For T&T, this week we are on Lesson 3.3 in their book. We will have to make up a couple lessons to get the book finished by the end of the year. I will be sending out a schedule to do that soon.

5. The Awards Night for all clubs will be on April 28th. That means all work to finish the books will need to be finished on the week of April 18 for each club respectively.

As always, let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

May God Bless you and your family during these weird times! You and your family are always welcome to attend church services at SBC on Sunday mornings starting at 9 am.

We've had a few speed bumps along the way, but Awana is working great this year. We are glad to be able to have it in such a challenging year. A couple of things I want to pass on; I want to remind all the Wednesday night clubbers (Sparks and T&T) that we will be having Drive-In Movie night this Wednesday night at club. Use a cardboard box to make your own car for watching the movie in during club. Prizes for the best designs.

1. Operation Christmas Child Collection Week is quickly approaching us. We will need to have the shoeboxes at our church by November 18th. Be sure to have your clubber pick up a box and a Follow Your Box Label, fill it with appropriate gifts, pay the $9 processing fee, and bring the box to our church. Mary Kay and I will take them to a drop off sight on the following Sunday. You can learn more by going to this site: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/?utm_source=Ggl&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=m_YGOC-B20V&utm_content=OCCHomepage&gclid=CjwKCAiA-f78BRBbEiwATKRRBG_HNsgo3fzegVpA2eXpL62KDnTd2BE7QIFbiwsbVZz_Pl-Kr2SEeRoCVokQAvD_BwE

2. You can pack a shoebox without leaving home for just $25 (including shipping using the "Build a Box on-line" feature: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/buildonline/

3. Here are 3 recipient stories communicating the value of a shoebox gift (each story is about 6 minutes).

Just wanted to check in with you all and thank you for sending your kids to Awana this year. We have more kids this year then we had last year. What a blessing in a year full of uncertainty because of the pandemic.

Things are going well and we are privileged to be able to teach Bible truths to your kids through the Awana Program.

We sent out calendars a couple of weeks ago for the Sparks and T&T and Mary Kay has calendars for the Cubbies. Please check those out as we have a theme night for the first week of club in the month for every month. This evening for Sparks and T&T the theme is Twin Night. Have your clubber pair up with another clubber and dress the same for the night!

We will be participating in Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child this year. We will show a video and talk about it with the clubbers in a couple of weeks. I have ordered boxes with labels that can be tracked and we will hand those out to kids who want to participate. You can learn more about this wonderful program at; samaritanspurse.org

Just a quick post to let you know that Cubbies will be postponed for a couple weeks until the 22nd, so no Cubbies tonight or next week. We are planning to have Sparks and T&T on Wednesday as usual. Start time will be 6:45.

Hello Everyone! Just a quick post to let everyone know that Awana will not start up tonight as indicated on my last post. We are excited to start next week on September 8th for Cubbies at 6:30 and on September 9th for Sparks and T&T at 6:45. Masks will be optional and we will practice social distancing as much as is practical. As a precaution on Wednesdays we will keep the clubs separate for the evening with no common opening ceremony. Sparks will be downstairs for the evening and T&T will be upstairs. Sparks will enter and leave the west door and T&T will enter and leave the east door. Cubbies will meet on Tuesdays and enter in the west door. Mary Kay will be contacting all Cubby parents. If you haven't been contacted this year and have any questions please contact me at 4022172930. We are excited to start.

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to update you on what the plans are for the Awana Club Year. What I know for sure is that we are planning to start up the club this year on September 2nd for Sparks and T&T and September 8 for Cubbies. That is all I am sure of at this point. With the pandemic upon us, we are looking at options on how to run the club so we can meet the needs of as many clubbers and families as we can to teach kids and families what the Bible says. I just listened to a Webinar put on by Awana which gave me some great options. My plan now is to go to the Syracuse Bible Church elder board for additional guidance, and then to engage the leaders on how to run the club.
I ask you as parents to contact me by messenger or by email at: [email protected], to let me know what your thoughts are about sending your child this year. I totally need your input as to what it would take for you to send your child for live Awana, or virtual Awana, or a combination. If we do live Awana at church, I am sure we will be practicing socially distancing in some capacity.
I hope to have more information next week after hearing from you all and talking to the elder board.
