One of our new Temples the Syracuse Utah Temple stands as the 206th Temple in Operation and the 24th Temple in the State of Utah, adding to the faith's presence in the region. It is notably the third Temple in Davis County, following the Bountiful Utah Temple (1995) and the Layton Utah Temple (2024). This House of the Lord is situated at 1098 South 2500 West, Syracuse, Utah 84075, built on 12 acres.
Announced to the public on April 5, 2020, by Prophet Russell M. Nelson, the Syracuse Utah Temple embodies a rich connection to the surrounding environment. The design incorporates motifs reflective of local flora surrounding the Great Salt Lake and nearby wetlands. Plants such as snowball sand-verbena, desert paintbrush, common cattail, and reeds are represented in intricate details. The art glass features varying shades of blues, greens, golds, yellows, and reds, echoing the indigenous plants and the reflections found in the lake, marking this area as the “Gateway to Antelope Island.”
The groundbreaking and dedication took place on June 12, 2021, led by Kevin R. Duncan, who acknowledged the legacy of faith passed down from the pioneers. This significant moment laid the foundation for what was to follow, culminating in a public open house from May 10 through May 3, 2025, leading to its dedication on June 8, 2025, once again by Prophet Russell M. Nelson.
Occupying 90,526 square feet and reaching a height of 219.8 feet, the Temple serves as a stunning architectural achievement. The exterior is crafted from a steel frame with a white Moncini granite finish, giving it a distinctive appearance. Architectural features include a single attached end spire without a gold-leafed angel moroni statue.
Within, the House of the Lord contains an environment of tranquility with four instruction rooms, four sealing rooms, and two baptistries designed to accommodate various functions and signify a place of learning and connection.
The interior design further complements the Temple’s overall aesthetic. The general stone selected includes Crema Ella Verde and Emperador Light, with accent stones such as Island Green and Red Rose. The lighting features a mix of glass, faux alabaster, and crystal, enhancing the overall ambiance.
The flooring showcases Bentley Mills nylon type 6,6 fiber in the main areas, with the celestial room featuring 100% New Zealand wool carpet. Entry and waiting rooms are adorned with 100% nylon rugs, while the bride’s room boasts a beautifully crafted wool rug, adding to the elegance of the space.
