Genesis 42–44:
Joseph’s brothers traveled to Egypt looking for food. Without revealing his identity, Joseph tested their character, bringing old guilt and the consequences of their past choices back to the surface.
As the story unfolded, we began to see a change in the brothers, especially Judah as he stepped forward and offered himself in place of Benjamin. These chapters set the stage for reconciliation and show how much God had been working in their lives.

We continued Joseph’s story in Genesis 41. After Pharaoh was troubled by his dreams, Joseph was brought before him and, giving credit to God, interpreted the dreams and offered wisdom for what was ahead.

Joseph was elevated to a position of authority in Egypt and began preparing the nation for the coming famine. After years of waiting and hardship, we see God’s plan for Joseph beginning to unfold and his faithfulness being used for a greater purpose.

Today in our Genesis series, we continued Joseph’s story in Genesis 39–40. Joseph served faithfully in Potiphar’s house, but after being falsely accused, he was thrown into prison. Even there, Joseph remained faithful and used the gifts God had given him to interpret the dreams of those around him.

Although Joseph was forgotten by those he helped, God had not forgotten him. Even in the waiting, God was still at work.

Genesis 37 details the story of Joseph and his family’s favoritism, jealousy, and hatred. This led his brothers to sell him into slavery, taking his life in a direction he never could have expected.
Even when circumstances seem confusing or completely outside of our control, God is still at work.

Genesis 34, one of the most difficult chapters in the Bible. We saw the devastating effects of sin, revenge, and brokenness, and how choosing our own way instead of God’s leads to even greater pain and destruction.

This chapter reminds us that while Scripture doesn’t hide the reality of human brokenness, it also points us to our need for God. When we take justice into our own hands or allow sin to guide our actions, the consequences ripple far beyond ourselves.

One of the most defining moments in Jacob’s life. Before being reunited with Esau, Jacob wrestled with God through the night, refusing to let go until he received a blessing. In that moment, God changed his name from Jacob to Israel, marking the beginning of a transformed identity.

When Jacob finally met Esau, the reconciliation he feared became a picture of God’s grace. These chapters remind us that God often transforms us before He changes our circumstances. As we surrender to Him, He shapes our identity, strengthens our faith, and prepares us for what lies ahead.

Genesis 31:
God called Jacob to leave Laban and return to the land He had promised. After years of being mistreated and taken advantage of, Jacob trusted God’s direction and stepped out in obedience, believing that God would protect and provide for him.
This chapter reminds us that God is faithful even when people are not. When God calls us to move, we can trust His leading, knowing that His presence goes with us and His promises remain true no matter what lies ahead.

Today we heard from the Lawrence’s who are missionaries in Paris, France. We learned that sometimes the best way to share the gospel is by simply being in community with others and being a Christlike example.
Many people are trying to combat loneliness, and providing hospitality can be the first step in being a witness for Christ.
