Just because your life feels distorted right now doesn’t mean God can’t still create something beautiful through it.

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13:12: “Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.”
In Paul’s day, mirrors weren’t clear like ours, they were polished metal. You could see yourself, but only vaguely and distorted.
So when he says: “Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror…” he’s saying that right now, our understanding of life, God, pain, purpose, prayer, and even ourselves is limited. We catch glimpses, shadows, and reflections. Pieces of the puzzle, but not the full picture.
There are things we don’t understand like why some prayers go unanswered, why suffering happens, why restoration takes time, why some doors close, and why some people walked away.
We see fragments, but God sees the whole story.
But then Paul says: “but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.” That’s the promise that one day, whether in eternity or in the fullness of God’s revealed plan, the fog will lift. The reflection becomes face-to-face reality. What feels confusing now will make sense to us in the presence of God.
He goes on to write that “All that I know now is partial and incomplete…” which takes the pressure off us. You don’t have to understand everything to trust God. Faith usually means walking with incomplete information.
But he it ends with: “but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.” Think about that. Before you fully understand Him…He already fully understands you. God knows your fears, your hidden battles, your wounds, your questions and your heart. Not through a distorted reflection. He knows you completely.
So just because the reflection is blurry doesn’t mean God isn’t present in the room.
Trust Him. Feed your faith. Hold to His unchanging hand. ❤️
