Join us for a special service Sunday September 20, 10:00 AM. The sermon-message that morning will be Dorothy Paige-Turner's Songs and Stories of the Underground Railroad! A musician, historian, and educator, she explores how those enslaved used secret and coded messages embedded within spirituals and folk songs to communicate means of escape on the Underground Railroad before, during, and after the Civil War. This presentation is a meaningful way to learn about this period in American history and reflect on the role of faith in how people respond to injustice.

Evening With the Butterflies last Saturday 8/22/26 was a delight! Sunshine, 7 monarchs dancing in the air and nectaring at marsh milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) and savannah blazingstar (Liatris scariosa nieuwlandii), and a happy crowd. Thanks University of Illinois Extension - Boone, DeKalb and Ogle Counties for helping to spread the word and invite butterfly lovers :)

Good afternoon Mayfield - The church council met this last Thursday evening and as we left the church, a half moon and perfect fields of corn greeted us, along with all the flowers and evening birdsong - how lucky we are!
