I made this soup yesterday. It was so yummy. I also received a donation of ham for a food vendor yesterday. So, I'm all set for this event.

BRIELLE’S HAM BONE SOUP
As you all know by now that I participated in several fundraisers during the year. This one was founded to honor the memory of the late, 4-year-old Brielle Boyle. The goal of THE organization is to provide support for families of children with extended hospital stays. The organization is known as . Please check them out on Facebook and if possible, support this organization. As I stated above, I do many charitable events every year, some are one-time deals. I will do this one until they throw dirt on me. Today’s soup is made normally from the leftover ham bones from the event. The event doesn't happen until August 29th. So, I'm using ham hocks today. A true hearty old-fashioned ham and bean soup filled with carrots, celery, onion, potatoes, cabbage and seasonings.

Every week at Jay's Famous Roast Pork & Beef I make poultry stock to use in our homemade soups. As you can see from the picture, I started a pot of stock this morning. It has all the good stuff in it, poultry bones, a variety of vegetables, herbs and spices. In a few hours it will be strained and the fat will be removed. So, I'm sure you are thinking this will make great soup, and yes it would. However, this batch is being donating to the Noxen Bible Baptist Church. They do a soup give-a-way monthly. They told me they have both members and non-members from the community battleing cancer and could I do some stock to give them. I have been told that when individuals are going through treatment, the stock is one thing that settles well when they eat it. They asked and they will receive. I am hoping that every spoonful brings comfort and strength.
