Our vision is to see every legislator in America influenced by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the truth of God's Word. 121 is a ministry of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Swartz Creek Michigan and was founded by Pastor Chris Yager. The heart behind this ministry is to encourage other pastors and leaders throughout our country to be fulfilling the command of 1 Timothy 2:1 to be praying for the leade

rs that represent their states. It is of great importance that every believer see this as a priority in their prayer life. 121 is here to assist you by keeping you informed on the latest news out of Michigan's state capital as well as providing you with daily reminders to be in prayer for our leaders.

Who am I according to my own thoughts, experiences, poor decisions, opinions of others, vs who does God say that I am?

Ever feel the battle between those two identities? One is false, and one is true.

God is true, and what He says is what matters. I’m walking one of the state reps through a study that dives into this topic called “The Heart of A Warrior” by Michael Thompson. We are both benefitting from it greatly!

What lies about yourself are you believing that God wants to refute and replace?

As you pray today, pray for our nation. Take some time, some real time, to pray for the people in our country, the people leading our country, and our country as a whole.

Pray for God's grace of repentance to be poured out on our nation.

Pray for God's Spirit to move in power to open eyes to the gospel in our nation.

Pray for God's Word to be spread abundantly across every community in our nation.

Thursday is National Day of Prayer.

How should we pray for our leaders?

1. Salvation! This is God’s primary work! Luke 19:10 Jesus came to save the lost. I Timothy 2:1-6 show God’s command for prayer and heart for political leaders to be saved.

2. A Biblical understanding of good and evil. Romans 13 specifically lays out that government’s job is to punish evil and reward good. What happens when government has a perverted understanding of good and evil? God’s Word is the standard.

3. The wisdom and courage to effect good. It’s one thing to have a Biblical understanding of good and evil, it’s another to have the wisdom and courage to actually influence with that understanding. How does a Biblically grounded legislator take his understanding of good and evil and turn it into public policy that will be approved by all the necessary channels and implemented into law? What will happen to his “popularity” when he does?

Who is Jesus to you? Better question: Who is Jesus according to Jesus?

The apostle John, through the Holy Spirit, tells us Who Jesus is in John chapter 1, verses 1-18.

Creator. Word. Light. Eternal. Savior. Etc.

John the Baptist’s testimony of Jesus is used as John the apostle’s first piece of evidence to prove Jesus is Who John 1:1-18 says He is.

Our job is to figure out Who Jesus is in truth and then align our lives accordingly.

There is only One Jesus—the Biblical Jesus!

Why is the Bible worth studying? With michigan legislative staff we discussed:

1. There is no other book like it in human history
-archeological discoveries validate its content
-there is an overwhelming volume of consistent manuscript data
-40 authors, 1500 years, different regions under different regimes, and it all completed one congruent narrative

2. It is God’s revealed Word to us
-it is what we KNOW FOR SURE God has said
-it is all breathed through Him
-it is the written record of His Words to His people throughout the ages

3. It is how we know God and how to be in union with Him.
-this fits right into where we are going with our study in John. The purpose statement of John is John 20:30 “These are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and that believing you might have life through His name”
-John includes in his work multiple deity claims, multiple signs proving deity, and some of the clearest salvation passages in all of history.

A book with those credentials is definitely worth studying! Pray for God to grow our influence at the Capitol!

Today we answered the question “why study the Bible?”

I presented thee answers: 1. There is no other book like it in all of human history. 2. It is the revealed Word of God. 3. It tells us Who God is and how we can be in union with Him.

Preparing for meetings tomorrow at the Capitol.

Romans 13:3-4 is my go-to passage when sitting across from a legislator for the first time.

Starting Heart of A Warrior by Michael Thompson for my fifth book study with a representative friend.

Well Versed by Jim Garlow--this is an excellent resource to help prepare for any conversation revolving around current events!

Legislators are one of the most overlooked mission fields in our country.

They are constantly approached with agendas or complaints, but rarely with genuine care for their soul.

What would it look like if every legislator had a pastor and church from their district regularly praying for them and sharing the gospel?

That's the vision.

Pictured below: Pastors from Rep Brian Begole's district meet with him to pray, encourage, and provide spiritual guidance this past October.
