Kryptonite didn’t make Superman less of a superhero. It just made him unable to live like one.
That’s what excuses can do to us spiritually.
They may not completely take away our faith overnight, but they can slowly weaken our courage, our obedience, and our willingness to trust God. They can keep us stuck between what God is asking and what we’re afraid to do.
Sometimes the danger isn’t that we stop believing. The danger is that we stop moving forward.
Don’t let an excuse keep you from living the life God is calling you to live.

Excuses don’t always look dangerous.
Most of the time, they sound reasonable. They sound justified. Sometimes they even sound responsible.
But if we hold onto them long enough, they can slowly make us less willing, less courageous, and less obedient to what God is asking us to do.
Don’t let an excuse become the thing that keeps you from becoming who God created you to be.
Jesus is still saying, “Follow me.” Not someday. Not when everything gets easier. Today.

Excuses are like Kryptonite to your soul.
They usually don’t take us out all at once. They slowly weaken us, making us less willing, less courageous, and less obedient to what God is calling us to do.
What sounds reasonable in the moment can quietly become the very thing that keeps us stuck.

This Sunday after church, we’re having a community picnic at One Focus, and we’d love for you to hang out with us!

Most of the things filling our schedules aren’t bad things. Work matters. Family matters. Rest matters. The responsibilities we carry matter. But even good things can become barriers when they continually push Jesus to the side. It’s easy to get busy and not even realize how much space everything else has started to take. Sometimes we just need to bring things back into the right order and make room for what matters most.

It’s easy to call something a reason when we don’t want to call it an excuse.
Life gets busy. Schedules fill up. There’s always something that needs our attention. But if Jesus is constantly the thing getting pushed to the side, it might be worth asking what’s really running our lives.
What are we making time for, and what are we making excuses for?
