As most of you know, Father Kelly passed away two weeks ago. His family is in charge of making his final arrangement and they stated they will be planning something in September. I thought we should do something sooner. We will be having a Memorial Mass for Father Kelly on July 1st at 10:00AM at St. John the Evangelist Church and we will have a collation in the Parish Hall afterwards. Please plan on attending this Mass so both St. John’s and St Thomas can come together to say our final farewell.

Registration for Religious Education for St. John the Evangelist and St. Thomas Aquinas parishes has started. All classes will be held at St. John the Evangelist Parish/Religious Education Center. Spots will be given on a first come first serve basis. You can stop by the Religious Education office in person Monday through Friday from 9AM-3PM, mail the form and payment to St. John’s the Evangelist, 198 Humphrey St., Swampscott, MA 01907 Attn: Religious Education or drop it in the black mailbox at the entrance to St. John’s Parish Center. The deadline for registrations is September 12, 2023.

The schedule of classes is as follows:

Sunday Morning – Grades 1-4 – 9:20AM-10:15AM – Religious Education Center

Tuesday Afternoon – Grades 1-4 – 3PM-4PM – Religious Education Center

Wednesday Afternoon – Grades 1-4 – 3PM-4PM – Religious Education Center

Tuesday Evening – Grades 5-8 – 7PM-8PM – Religious Education Center (Confirmation Class for 8th Grade)

Wednesday Evening – Grades 5-8 – 7PM-8PM – Religious Education Center (Confirmation Class for 8th Grade)

Confirmation Class – Grades 9 & 10 – last Sunday of the Month – Religious Education Center

Registration for one child is $125 and $200 for a Family.

For a successful program this year, we will need many volunteers, please make this a consideration for your family. We need volunteers for all grade levels and class days. Registration fees are waived for all volunteer teachers. We provide training and prizes for all volunteers. Please contact Maureen McDonnell at [email protected] if you would like to volunteer.

St. Vincent de Paul is sponsoring a Bundle Sunday on June 9th from 11:15am-1pm at St. John’s Parish Center. Please bring your clean clothing and linens to the Parish Center. Excellent opportunity to clean out you closets.

St. Vincent de Paul at St. John’s is hosting a Food Drive on Sunday, April 28th to support our Food Pantry. Bags with needed items listed are available at the entrance of the Church. Filled bags can be dropped off at the Church any time or in the back of the Church from 11:30AM-1PM on April 28th.
