I want to sincerely thank everyone who has prayed, donated, served, or been part of this ministry over the years. A special thank you to the faithful laborers who have stood beside our family for the last 15 years, as well as those who have come alongside us in recent years. This is true Kingdom work—serving God, not just something done on Sunday. It is truly living with A Heart Beyond Our Own 💕
Yesterday, A Heart Beyond Our Own Ministries was presented with a certificate from the New Leaf Shelter. We are grateful and honored for the recognition. However, it also came with heartbreaking news: the Surprise shelter will be closing due to lack of funding, and June 30, 2026 will be their final day.
It is deeply saddening that a shelter serving the vulnerable in our own community could not be sustained with the body of Christ serving them. Yet we know fear during a recession does not stop in homes—it can be at work and within churches as well. But fear does not have the final word. We believe God is still moving in the hearts of those led by His Spirit, and we trust that this building in Surprise, Arizona, will one day become something even greater to serve those experiencing homelessness.
We are still moving forward with our Mother’s Day lunch. We will be providing family photos, having the children arrange flower bouquets for their mothers, and giving gift bags. At this time, there are nine moms attending, so if you would like to donate items for the gift bags or come help serve that day, please let me know.
We would love to continue pouring out a heart beyond our own.
