Bishop Rehberg got a write up about her double lung transplant. The article mentions how her time volunteering near Ground Zero after 9-11 may have been a contributing factor to the pulmonary fibrosis that led to her needing the transplant. It also mentions that, "The bishop also directed supporters to a CaringBridge page created by family members to share updates during the transplant process." The article can be found at, https://favs.news/bishop-gretchen-rehberg-double-lung-transplant-spokane/
And this is the link to the Caring Bridge page where people can get updates https://www.caringbridge.org/site/0921eff9-b529-11f0-9375-472d60ab127c?utm_source=website_share&utm_medium=share_button&utm_term=&utm_content=link_share_button&utm_campaign=private_home_page

Update on Bishop Gretchen Rehberg of the Spokane Episcopal Diocese
I received the following email last evening regarding our Bishop the Rt Rev Gretchen Rehberg

Encouraging news, as of 7:38 p.m. today, from The Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane about the Rt. Rev. Gretchen M Rehberg, whose long-awaited double lung transplant surgery began early this morning at University of Washington Hospital. Thank you for your prayers:
"We are grateful to share that Bishop Gretchen’s lung transplant surgery has been completed, and the procedure went well. She is now in the ICU at the University of Washington Medical Center where she is recovering and being closely monitored by her medical team.
"We give thanks for the skilled surgeons, doctors, and nurses who are caring for her, and for the many prayers that have been offered on her behalf across the Diocese.
"Recovery from transplant surgery will take time, and Bishop Gretchen will remain unavailable while she rests and heals. In the meantime, the plans already in place for diocesan leadership continue, and Canon Susan Cleveley will remain in contact with her as appropriate and will share updates as they become available.
"At this time Bishop is not able to accept gifts. However, if you would like to send her a card please mail it to the Diocesan office at 245 East 13th Ave. Spokane, WA 99202.
"Please continue to keep Bishop Gretchen, her family, and her medical team in your prayers in the days and weeks ahead.
"With gratitude for your prayers and faithfulness,
"The Office of the Bishop"
