Join us on Wednesday, September 2nd, at 5:30pm for a delicious free meal. One of the missions of our church is the OpenTable Project. These are free monthly meals open to the community. If you're not familiar with the project, here is a description: Join the conversations around the table. We’re not solving the problems of the world, just chatting and getting to know one another. Our world and even our own community have become increasingly discordant and dominated by divisive rhetoric. We are hoping that as people come to know each other better on a more personal level, conversations can be had without the hard edge that has developed. “There are no strangers here; only friends you haven't yet met.” (William Butler Yeats). Come and meet a stranger and leave having made a new friend and enjoyed some homecooked food.

One of the missions of our church is the OpenTable Project. These are free monthly meals open to the community. Want to thank everyone who came to the American Red Cross Blood Drive yesterday. We had a good turn out and collected 32 units of blood products, which is pretty good. Those 32 units will go to helping an estimated 86 people, saving lives and helping chronically ill people to heal. We are currently in a national emergency blood shortage, so these donations will are crucial. Our next blood drive will be on September 16th. Watch for our promotional material to sign up. (We serve the best homemade cookies in town to our donors.)

Thank you to all those who baked, schlepped tables and same items, donated their treasured goods, and especially to those who spent their hard-earned cash at our Summer Sale. These efforts netted the United Methodist Women (UMW) over $1,600. This will go to support the efforts of our group and of our church. Some of this mission work includes scholarships to Sunapee high school graduates, scholarships for Sunapee kids to attend summer camp, gift cards for needy families at the holidays, support of our local food bank, support for regional efforts of groups like Turning Point (addressing domestic violence), Dayspring Pregnancy Center (supporting difficult and unplanned pregnancies), global support such as sponsorship for the education of children in the Dominican Republic and donations to disaster areas through UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). We also support church missions like our monthly OpenTable Project free community meals and sponsorship of American Red Cross Blood drives (our drives have the best homemade cookies). Thank you to everyone who made this sale a success!
