A good friend. a sister in Yeshua Messiah, just posted this on her page. She explains this truth in a very understandable way. For more on this, read No Other Name on my website or available in print on Amazon. Thank you, Wren. God bless all who have ears to hear this truth - and forgive those who don’t.
FB: What’s on your mind?
Me: Acts 4:12-14. Most Bibles in verse 12 say “for there is no other name under heaven by which may be saved ( #4982, sothenai) ”, and then in Acts 14:9 the same word is used , but it says “and seeing the man has faith to be healed ( #4982, sothenai)” the translation was inconsistent. Both lame men were physically healed - not necessarily given what was implied - eternal salvation.
So, was the man saved, or healed, or both? Why render it saved in once instance and healed in another??
Anyone with decent reading skills can see the word is the same and means the same thing. Why did the translators choose to use two different English words?
I have an idea or theory about it. Some of you won’t see it.
Some of you won’t agree.
Some of you will not look this up yourself, but will come after the messenger - here as well as in your mind.
Some of you will go check where all the instances this word and its derivatives are used. And you will see it.
Nevertheless, there is much to back it up.
Saved was used instead of healed because if those who sit in the pews truly understand and believed the power of Yeshua as our Healer, there would be no need for doctors and hospitals and pills and potions.
When you read the Luke was a physician in your Bible. It does not mean he wore a white coat and stethoscope, wrote prescriptions for the pharmacy to fill or requested ct scans and X-rays. It means he was able to lay hands on men and women through the power of the Holy Spirit and the promises of Yeshua and heal them.
Wholly
Body and spirit.
Now and eternally.
He is not Luke, MD.
YESHUA IS OUR GREAT HEALER!
