I haven’t done much with this page but I want to change that. I want to point out that I will never be an official “Catholic Monastery.” Even if I could get approval from my Bishop I wouldn’t now with the way the pope is at war with traditionalists. This pope is attacking already formed traditional monasteries and convents, even going as far as having his henchmen kick out sisters and selling their assets. So much for the “Pope of mercy.”

The best I will ever do is try to live my life as a monk in my own home. Again, I will never be an official monk, but I hope to work towards living under a Rule..similar to the Benedictines. I would like to get better at saying the Liturgy of the Hours. I have been saying the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary…I have been saying Lauds and would like to start saying Vespers and Compline.

I had started a Go Fund Me to help with stuff like candles and supplies for my chapel such as incense and votive candles, but I deleted it. If anyone would like to send a donation, you can do so through Venmo with my e-mail address [email protected]

I do have some news. At some point, hopefully in the near future, my TLM priest has agreed to offer Mass at my home chapel. This would be amazing and something I would be eternally grateful to him for.

So, that’s it for now. Like I said, I hope to get more active on this page. God Bless you all. Ave Maria! Viva Cristo Rey!

A number of points against the traditional Latin Mass might be valid if the Mass were principally about us. It is not.

It’s been a while since I posted anything so I think it’s time for an update. After almost all summer...in fact, it was pretty much all summer, fall and up to about a few weeks ago, my chapel was filled with a big box that made it just about inaccessible. I finally was able to get rid of the box and clean out the chapel to make it look like an actual chapel. During this time, I have been really bad at saying the Office. Now, I am back to doing a little bit better My goal is to say Laudes, Vespers, and Compine, I haven’t been good at that, but I have usually at least done two of the three prayer times. I am working at getting better at that.

So, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and God Bless you all.

I would like to welcome all the new people that have liked this page. I have been very bad about not saying morning and evening prayer. I plan on changing this during Lent. I have no excuse other than sheer laziness. The good thing is, I can improve on my spiritual life, and since Lent is relatively young, I can improve during Lent and still accomplish my goal of improving spiritually during this important time.

God Bless you all,
Brother Peter

So, any monastery, even a one person monastery needs to have some kind of purpose or apostolate. Of course the most important apostolate is taking care of my mother which is an obligation of every Catholic to take care of their parents in their advanced age. After taking care of my mom one of the biggest things I hope to accomplish is to promote the traditional Latin Mass and traditional Catholicism in general. I am just not sure how I will accomplish this but I am trying to brainstorm some ideas.

Another subject I have been thinking about is how I will be identified. I believe I mentioned I was at a Maronite Monastery for a summer several years ago. Actually it's probably closer to 10 years ago now. While I was there I chose and was given the name Brother Peter. My confirmation name is also Peter. So I am going to keep this name.

Now obviously I will not be using this name in public as I know I am not an official approved Monastery. I will identify myself as Brother Peter on these posts but that's about all. If at some time in the future I get a monastic habit I will only be using it for prayers in my private chapel. Of course buying a habit is fairly expensive so that's on the very back burner right now.

I finally did buy a can of wood stain to get the front of my Altar painted. I have been wanting to get this done for a long time. Hopefully I will now accomplish this in the next couple of days.

I just wanted to give a little update. God Bless you all. In JMJ

I have been thinking of something like this for a while. I have been attempting and failing often to live my life as a monk. As you see in the photos I have a small chapel with an altar where I say my prayers. My goal is to at least say morning prayer (Laudes), evening prayer (Vespers) and night prayer (Compline) although I am often doing good if I get one of the hours done.

Obviously, since I am only one person taking care of my elderly and disabled mother which is important "work" I do not have any standing with the Diocese other than being a member of the St. Gregory the Great Latin Mass Chaplaincy. I look at my home and yard as Monastery grounds and I hope to improve on both.

Some projects I hope to accomplish in the near future are painting the front of the Altar. Adding stain glass to at least the chapel windows. Next spring/summer I want to finally get an outdoor statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary along with a flower garden. There are other projects I would like to accomplish too but those are the big ones for the chapel and grounds. Thank you for liking this page. God Bless you! JMJ!
