Celebrating Love: Rev. Dr. James E. Williams Marries Valarie Pryor

The Sumter community is rejoicing as Rev. Dr. James E. Williams, Pastor of the Lamar-Ebenezer Charge—including John Wesley United Methodist Church, Sandy Grove United Methodist Church, and Ebenezer United Methodist Church—celebrated a joyous milestone. On November 1, 2025, Rev. Dr. Williams and Valarie Pryor were united in marriage at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sumter, South Carolina.
The beautiful ceremony was led by Bishop L. Jonathan Holston, with Pastor Angela Marshall serving as the host minister. Friends, family, and members of the community gathered to witness and celebrate this sacred union.
Rev. Dr. Williams, known for his dedicated pastoral leadership and service to multiple congregations, and First Lady Valarie Williams now begin a new chapter together, sharing a life rooted in faith, love, and service.
The couple extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who celebrated with them and supported their journey. The Sumter community congratulates Rev. Dr. James E. Williams and First Lady Valarie Williams on their union and wishes them abundant joy and blessings in their married life.

The United Women in Faith of Centenary United Methodist Church hosted an inspiring and spirit-filled gathering on Saturday, November 15, 2025, welcoming guest speaker Valarie Williams, President of the Antioch United Methodist Church United Women in Faith Unit.
With warmth, wisdom, and a dynamic teaching style, Williams delivered a powerful message entitled “What Is in YOUR Spiritual Pocketbook?” Speaking to a packed fellowship hall, she encouraged the women of Centenary to examine the spiritual “items” they carry each day—those that weigh them down and those that empower them in their walk with Christ.
