Faith formation learned about our good shepherd Jesus who leads us to living water.

The kids drew paths with chalk and the teachers lightly sprayed the artwork with water to symbolize how the colors deepen, move and change.

Jesus doesn’t just show us where to go, he fills us. His love moves in us, changes us and brings us to life.

Heavenly Helpers final day of National Volunteer week was a short one. We spent the morning at Lutheridge camp where Amy (LDR North Carolina) has her office. We put some shelves together and painted a shipping container that was donated to them. Tools and supplies will be kept in there.

We ended with lunch and reflections with Amy and were on the road a bit after 12 noon. It was a wonderful inspirational week for all of us

Day 4 of our Heavenly Helpers trip to Asheville was as emotional as yesterday afternoon trip around the disaster. Today was a positive and uplifting emotion. We helped a mother and daughter return home. Tonight they will be sleeping under their own roof. So many wonderful feelings for all of us

Day 3 found Heavenly Helpers back at the house we were at yesterday. Painting, installing ceiling fans, flooring, and trim. Cabinets come soon, so she will a true kitchen again. We have to leave at 3 so decided to drive around to see the areas still devastated. It is really sad. There are areas that have not started in the recovery process. It is estimated to take 20 years before things are back to normal. Many are terrified to get a storm. We are so lucky to live in the area we live in. Yes, we have had some disasters but seeing this area just make us so grateful. Landslides from the mountains and flooding from all the rain in those mountains created destruction to homes, roads, businesses, schools. But they are determined to recover.

Day 2: Today the Heavenly Helpers painted another ladies house who had the wind and rain take off her chimney and take down a tree into the roof

She did not get much from her insurance so she started by replacing the roof herself and has been living with a wiped out kitchen and living room since the storm. She finally found Housing Assistance Groups have been in to do sty wall spackling and some flooring. We almost finished painting both rooms Hoping we can finish tomorrow before we start the next project so cabinets and the rest of the flooring can be done

Day1: Heavenly Helpers first day in Asheville NC took us to a home still needing paint and some trim work. We spread out through the house and got the job done. We are working with Housing Assistance and NC Lutheran Disaster Response. Housing Assistance was founded shortly after Helene to help with repair and rebuilding of those who need it. As we have heard so many times after a disaster along with the volunteers comes those who scam taking advantage of the vulnerable.

Our Sunday school is officially ready for Holy Week! Check out these beautiful Palm Path Baskets made by our Sunday School classes this morning.

Congratulations to our children celebrating their first holy communion today as well! May you always feel Jesus walking beside you!
