As we read Revelation 14, we see God's mercy and wrath together once again. Mercy for those who submit to Him and wrath for those who submit to the beast. God brings His people to Himself while giving those who are against Him what they want in following the beast to God's wrath. These are previews of what we will see later in the book of Revelation but all people are without excuse. They will hear the good news of the Gospel and will either believe or reject it. That is the same for us today.

This week we are in Revelation 13. This Past Sunday we saw the great red dragon and this week we see two others with him; The first and second beasts. The three of these are the unholy trinity which will deceive many and lead them astray. Satan always gives a false representation of that which is of God and holy. Satan takes the good gifts and twists it into a replica and convinces us that God is holding out on us and that we can have what is good from him. The problem is that it leads to our death. Please read Revelation 13 as you prepare for Sunday.

As we celebrate Good Friday, we are reminded of our great sinfulness but an even Greater God who bore our sin and took the wrath that we might become righteous through faith in Jesus!

In Matthew 4:17, Jesus, after being baptized and tempted in the wilderness, "began to preach, saying 'Repent, for the kingdom heaven is at hand.'" He went on to preach the sermon on the mount where He described this kingdom of heaven that has come to spread through the hearts of His children in the midst of the kingdom of man. As we see the seventh trumpet blown in Revelation 11, the declaration of the voices in heaven is that the kingdom of earth and the kingdom of heaven are one. The time has run out and the King of kings exerts His power and shows Himself as the One who rules and reigns. This is what we, as His children, pray for. His Kingdom come. His will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven!! Please read Revelation 11:15-19 in preparation for Sunday.

This Sunday we will be in Revelation 10. John sees a huge angel with a small scroll or book in his hand. He is told to eat it and it will be sweet in the mouth but bitter in his stomach. This also happened in Ezekiel at the end of chapter 2 and beginning of chapter 3. God's word that He gives us to internalize is both sweet and bitter. It is good news but it is also rejected. Nevertheless we are called to take it to the nations and God will accomplish His purposes through the Gospel spreading to all nations, tribes and peoples!

When we think of prayer, we know that we should pray but in our fast paced world, it gets rushed or pushed to the side. Even when we pray, our minds drift to other things that happened or that we are planning later in the day. We don't understand the effectiveness of prayer or how God has designed His work of redemption and judgement to include our prayers. In Revelation 8, we will see the importance of prayer in the judgment and justice of God. Please read this chapter in preparation for Sunday.

Revelation 7:9-17 When we think of the book of Revelation, we often think about death, destruction and judgment. But in the midst of this, we see the kindness and care of God for His people. Those who, by faith in Jesus, have been saved from the wrath of the just God, who rightly punishes sin. They are the ones now shepherded by the Lamb. He is the One who cares for us, leads us, provides for us and comforts us. Psalm 23 gives us a beautiful picture of this Lamb who is also our Shepherd. Please read Psalm 23 and Revelation 7:9-17 in preparation for Sunday.
