Thank you all so much for your continued support of our children and Children’s Ministries as a whole. From cooking meals at VBS, helping set up and break down for various events, and so many things in between, I am so appreciative!!

As we head into a new school year, I’ve been taking the opportunity to reevaluate the well-loved toys and supplies that we have in our classrooms and I think its time to update a few things. I want to make sure that we have things in our room that make learning about Jesus and what it means to be a Christian, fun and exciting for the kids of our church. They are our future and laying down the scaffolding now to set them up for success inside and outside of our building, is the key to raising Kingdom Children.

I have attached our Amazon Wishlist and the children and I would be over the moon to have a few new things in our classroom. If you have been wanting to help Children’s Ministries in some way but aren’t sure how, this could be a great opportunity.

Thank you so much!!

I didn’t get a chance to take any pictures this Sunday because we were so busy!

We talked briefly about the two sections the Bible is divided into: The New Testament and the Old Testament. We discussed the story of Philip and the Ethiopian and about how the stories of the Old Testament were pretty confusing for people who were new Christians or who had never heard of Jesus before. When the Holy Spirit called Philip to travel down a specific path, Philip trusted that God had a plan! It was along this path that Philip heard an Ethiopian man trying to decipher some readings from the Old Testament and he was struggling with it. Philip hopped in the chariot with the man and helped him understand the meaning of what he was reading and the man decided he wanted to give his life to Christ!

This story is such a testament to the power and love of God and a reminder that Jesus is for everyone! For me, it served to remind me that even though I find myself feeling unequipped for certain things in my life, God doesn’t equip us first and then place a calling on us, He calls us FIRST, wherever we are, and THEN gives us what we need to fulfill His call.

We engineered our own chariots and raced them in the bay. Some of the kids made “airplane” chariots and flew them through the air while others made more traditional, wheeled carts. We even had an “Ironman” Chariot complete with thruster’s!

We had a great day and as always, thank you for sharing your kiddos with me every week!

‼️REMINDER‼️: Children will remain in he sanctuary with their grownups on the FIRST Sunday of each month, beginning 6/1. This is so that the children can experience communion and learn what it means to partake in the Lord’s Supper. ❤️

We started a new Sunday School Curriculum after Easter and it’s been really great! It’s called Bible Basics from Cokesbury and it’s a really engaging and refreshing way to experience the Bible stories you might already know!

Today, we talked about how in the beginning of the Church, it was dangerous to be a Christian. It’s thought that the Ichthys symbol was used as a way for Christians to identify each other without fear of persecution. We practiced drawing the shape of the fish in sand and with a little water, we made Icthys “tattoos”!

We also discussed a story in the book of Acts. The church was growing, and some people weren’t getting the help they needed. The apostles were busy teaching about Jesus and couldn’t do everything themselves. Some of the people, especially the Greek-speaking widows, weren’t getting their fair share of food during the daily food distribution. This made people upset because it wasn’t fair. The apostles wanted to fix the problem, so they asked the believers to choose seven trustworthy men to help make sure everyone was treated equally. This way, no one would be left out, and everyone would be cared for.

To reiterate this story, we set out 11 treats on a platter and told the kids to discuss a way to divide them amongst themselves. The only rule was that they all had to agree on the way they should be divided. It was really beautiful to see and hear the way the 9 of them worked together to distribute the 11 treats! We also played “What’s in the box” where 4 different foods were hidden behind cardboard boxes and the kids had to guess what they were by touch alone! It was hilarious!

Finally, we finished the day off by playing kickball in the field. It was SO much fun!

Enjoy your Sunday!

This morning, our Organist, Mrs Janet, led the Children’s Message. She is an Audiologist and talked to us about hearing aids and being deaf or hard of hearing. We passed around a hearing aid and it was amazing to see so much technology packed into one little mechanism!

In class, we put on noice cancelling headphones and tried to get each other to figure out what the other person was saying. It was pretty tricky, especially when there was a lot of background noise! I pray that we can all be more supportive of those individuals with disabilities that we can see, and those we can’t.

We also talked about the exciting weather that might happen this week! Everyone had different ideas about what their perfect “snow day” might look like. Then, we talked about if a snow day would be as fun if we were experiencing homelessness and what challenges a person might face in that situation. We put together cold weather Blessing Bags and each of the kiddos made a card and put it in the bag they put together. We put the bags and some other supplies into the Blessing Box.

It was a great morning and I am grateful to spend it with your kiddos!
