God Teaches Each of Us in the Way We Learn Best

In Zechariah 5, God gives the prophet two vivid visions — a flying scroll and a basket being carried away. These pictures may seem unusual to us today, but they were exactly what the people of that time needed to understand God’s message.

The flying scroll showed that God’s Word and His standards were meant to be seen clearly — not hidden, not sealed, but open for everyone to understand. The basket being carried away showed God removing the sin that had been weighing His people down, taking it far from them so they could walk in His blessing again.

God could have spoken these truths in a simple sentence, but He chose pictures because He knew that’s how those people learned best.

And He still teaches that way today.
Some of us learn through reading.
Some through seeing.
Some through doing.
Some through quiet reflection.
Some through life experiences that shape us more deeply than words ever could.

God knows exactly how He made each person. He knows how He designed us to learn. And He speaks to us in the way our hearts can hear Him.

In Zechariah 4, God reminds His people not to “despise the day of small things.”
Why?
Because every great work He accomplishes begins with a small, faithful step.

The Temple began with a small foundation.
Our ministries begin with small acts of service.
Our dreams begin with small prayers.
Our church’s future begins with small seeds of vision.

Everything we hope to do for God’s Kingdom — everything we envision for our community — starts somewhere, and it often starts small.
But small in our eyes is never small in His.

Let’s trust God with our beginnings and watch Him shape the rest.

FROM DEATH TO LIFE
One of the most powerful themes in Scripture is the way God brings life where there was none. In both the Old and New Testaments, “revival” isn’t about emotion or events — it’s about God restoring life to what was dead, weak, or lost.

The Hebrew word chayah (חָיָה) appears throughout the Old Testament — more than 250 times. It means to live again, to be restored, to flourish after fading.

You see it in places like Ezekiel 37:5 (“you shall live”) and Hosea 6:2 (“He will revive us”).

The Greek word anazaō (ἀναζάω) is rare — only a few times — and one of those is Romans 14:9, where Christ ‘died and lived again.’ His resurrection life is unique, because He is not only the One who rose — He is the One who gives life to all who come to Him.

Both point to the same truth:
God brings life where only death once stood.

This is why Jesus raised the dead during His ministry. Each miracle was more than compassion — it was a picture of salvation itself.

Jairus’ daughter — a reminder that every life, even the youngest, needs Christ’s restoring power

The widow’s son — hope for the hopeless

Lazarus — proof that no one is too far gone

Every resurrection pointed to the same truth:
Jesus came to bring the lost from death to life.

There is no situation too dead, no heart too cold, no life too broken for the Lord to restore.
Where Jesus speaks, life returns.
Where He enters, hope rises.
Where He calls, the impossible becomes possible.

In Christ, there is always hope beyond belief.

“Lord, I have heard of Your fame; I stand in awe of Your deeds… renew them in our day.” — Habakkuk 3:2

Habakkuk prayed these words in a time of uncertainty and coming judgment.

He wasn’t asking for a modern revival meeting — he was asking God to act again, to show mercy, and to renew His mighty works among His people.

That same prayer still fits our hearts today.

Lord, we’ve seen what You’ve done before.
We’ve heard the stories of Your power and faithfulness.
In our own troubled times, we ask You to move again.
Renew Your work in us.
Strengthen Your church.
Show mercy in our day.

Let revival begin where it always begins — in the hearts of Your people.

Micah 5 is one of the most powerful prophecies in Scripture because it looks in two directions at once — both to Christ’s first coming and forward to His future reign.

Written over 700 years before Jesus was born, Micah reveals:

• A specific birthplace for the Messiah — Bethlehem
• A Ruler whose origins are eternal
• A Shepherd‑King who leads with God’s strength
• A peace that comes from His very presence
• A restored remnant gathered from the nations
• A purified people ready for His rule

It’s remarkable to consider that the wise men may have studied this very prophecy. They weren’t simply following a star — they were watching for the signs God had already given. Micah 5:2 would have told them exactly where the Messiah would appear.

But Micah doesn’t stop at Bethlehem. He lifts our eyes forward — to the day when the same King will rule in majesty, gather His people, defend them, and bring lasting peace to the whole earth.

The first coming fulfilled the promise. The second coming will fulfill the Kingdom.

“He shall be their peace.”
Micah 5:5
