“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Take a moment to pause and consider God’s faithfulness. Now, take a moment to thank God for all the ways that He has been kind, generous and faithful to you. Determine in your heart that you will trust in God, even if you cannot see a way to the fulfillment of the promise. Decide that today you will live with confidence and not fear and you will step out in faith.

Joseph . . . whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means “son of encouragement”). Acts 4:36. Discouragement is not unique in December, our expectations are higher, our sadness gets deeper, but a little encouragement can go a long way. We read that the disciples were afraid of Saul in Acts 9:26. “But Barnabas (the encourager) took him and brought him to the apostles” (v. 27). Saul, later called Paul, had formerly been trying to kill the believers, but Barnabas (the encourager) defended him as a man transformed by Christ. All around us are people longing to be encouraged. A timely word, a phone call, or a prayer can help their faith in Jesus. The generosity and support of Barnabas demonstrate what it means to be a son or daughter of encouragement. That may be the greatest gift we can give to others this Christmas.
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of encouragement. May we encourage others as your Spirit has encouraged us.

Prayer: Stretching through Struggle
Dear God, today I come to you with a gratitude for all that you are doing in my life. For giving me a clean slate in which to continue to walk in my purpose. Today, I ask that you guide me through the struggles which I currently face. Give me the strength to know that it is only a temporary situation. God, it's easy to give up in the moment when it looks like failure is imminent, when the enemy seems to have the upper hand, when plans just don’t seem to fall into place like they should. Give me a spirit of calm to help me work through these challenges in order to get to my greater purpose which you have destined for me. "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will preform it until the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6

In 2nd Kings 22:8-23:25 something happened with King Josiah, when Hilkiah found God's law and Shaphan read it to king Josiah, the king tore his clothes in grief and immediately began making reforms in his own life and throughout the nation. With reading just one of God's Word, he changed the course of the nation. Today, many of us own Bibles, but are we changed by the truths found there? We are called to read, hear, and to obey His Word. It should cause us, like Josiah, to take immediate action to bring our lives into harmony with God's desires. We should open our Bible prayfully; read it carefully; and obey it joyfully.

Life is hard. You might already know that. From paying bills to trying to make enough money to dealing with people who can seem like enemies, life can be very hard. However, there are times when life just feels completely unbearable to the point where you feel like giving up. The struggle becomes too real, when you are attacked and persecuted for simply being you, it's hard to have hope and it hard to have peace. It's in these times that we have no choice, but look to the Word of God, the promises of God, in how we are to respond. In the Gospel of John, there is a promise that we all should remember: “I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world.” (Jn 16:33 NRSV) Here, Jesus promises that in Him, we have the formula to resist all Hell that is breaking loose. Jesus doesn’t promise that we will not cry. He doesn’t promise that we will not have to fight. He doesn’t promise that we will not fear for our lives. But, he does promise that we must take courage, for to be in Christ is to conquer the world. In Christ, we have all that we need to be at peace and not let the troubles of this world shake our core. God of Peace, Let your presence rest on us. Let your spirit fill us when we can't take no more. Give us your divine and comforting peace. We want your confidence to press on in the most uncertain times, Lest we stumble and fall. In the name of Jesus, the giver of peace
Amen.

"Do not fret because of those who are evil" (Psalm 37:1). Trying to stay aware of current events has its downside because bad news sells better than good news. It’s easy to become overly concerned about the criminal acts of individuals, crowds, or governments over whom we have no control.
Psalm 37 gives perspective to the daily news. David begins by saying, “Do not fret because of those who are evil” (v. 1). Then he proceeds to outline for us some alternatives to becoming overly anxious. In essence, David suggests a better way of thinking about negative news in our world.
What would happen if, instead of worrying about events beyond our control, we chose to trust in the Lord? (v. 3). Wouldn’t we be better off to “take delight in the Lord” (v. 4) rather than fret without limits? Imagine the freedom from worry we could have if we would “commit [our] way to the Lord” (v. 5). And how calm we could be by learning to “be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him”! (v. 7).
News of trouble we cannot change offers us an opportunity to set boundaries for our concerns. As we trust God, commit our ways to Him, and rest in Him, our outlook brightens. The struggles and trials may not disappear, but we will discover that He gives us His peace in the midst of them.
Lord, we see danger and trouble all around us. Help us not to worry but instead to trust and rest in You. Show us the peace that comes from waiting patiently on You.

Prayer is always life's greatest time saver. You may be facing a great challenge or decision that seems overwhelming to you. The Lord knows exactly what you need, and He will always answer your prayers as to what is the absolute best for you. Therefore, spend time listening to Him, and allowing Him to order your steps. While you are in His presence He will give you wisdom and guidance to keep you from moving in the wrong direction. No matter what you may be facing commit yourself to His schedule, wisdom, provision, and guidance through prayer. You'll find time with Him is the best investment that you can make everyday. Be Bless!

“And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.” Luke‬ ‭14:27‬ ‭
Whether we realize it or not, we make our decisions every day based primarily upon one core and foundational decision: Who we have decided to follow. Will we choose to follow Jesus? Or will we follow self? Each of us must count the cost of the decision to follow Jesus. What will it mean for us to really follow Him? Are we willing to lose everything if necessary? Are we willing to leave everything? Will we follow Jesus no matter the cost? Every day, all throughout the day, we will be tested on this decision. Who will be first? Will it be Christ or will it be self?

A lot of what we do in our everyday lives is often predicated on how it would be viewed by others. We get hair styles to fit in with the trends. We wear clothes that would be acceptable to those around us. We buy things that we hope will make us look better. So many of us actually change the way we act in order to fit in with certain people. Think about all the energy that takes. We consume ourselves so much with what we think others think about us that we forget to do the work to become our best selves. It is better to think about what God thinks about you. One of my favorite Scriptures is John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.” The promise is that God loves you so much and want you to experience Him fully, having abundant life. God doesn’t see you through other people's eyes He sees your heart and if you are faithful to the Will of God, He will reward you. Mary Magdalene is seen for her faithfulness and her heart. This woman once was possessed by demons, but became one of the women who was always ready and willing to assist Jesus in his ministry. Mary Magdalene, though scarred in society by her past, was one of the first Jesus revealed himself to after resurrection. Jesus didn’t see Mary Magdalene through the eyes of others who thought ill of her. Jesus saw her by her heart and commitment to walk with him.
Today, I charge you to pray for God to reveal Himself to you. Don't worry about what others may think of you. People are going to think what they want. There is a song that says, “He will keep you in perfect peace, if you keep your mind on Him.” If you keep your mind on God you will have life more abundant than you can ever imagined.
Dear Lord, thank you for loving me in spite of my mistakes. It is because of your unconditional love That I am able to have freedom. Help me not to focus on what others may think of me, but what you think of me. I seek to be pleasing in your sight. Guide me in the direction of Your peace.
In the name Jesus the Christ

"Rejoice that your names are written in heaven" (Luke 10:20). In Luke 10, Jesus sent His disciples on an evangelistic mission. On their return, they happily reported their success. But Jesus told them: “Do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." The focus of our joy is not merely that we are successful but that our names are inscribed in God’s book. But how can we be sure of that? God’s Word tells us, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Rom. 10:9). Jesus is the one who gives us the authority to carry on His work on earth, and God is the one who writes our names “in heaven” (v. 20). Notice that in both cases it is not our doing but God’s. Salvation is a gift of God’s grace; our part is to accept this gift.
Father in heaven, thank You for the gift of Your Son, who promised to prepare a place for us. Thank You too, that You are preparing us for that place.

"By grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works." (Ephesians 2:8-9) ~ Many people today have false hope that they can earn a place in heaven by working at being good or by doing good things. But there is no way any of us can ever be good enough. It's only through the sarifice of the sinless Savior that we are made righteous. Eternal life is given because of God's greatest gift of grace, not because of our good works. So don't let Satan trick you by giving you false hope that your good works will save you. It's only through Jesus' work on the cross that we can have real freedom. "We are not saved by good works, but by God's work"
