Join us for a Documentary Screening of “Gaza is Our Home,” a film by Monear Shaer
Wednesday, June 17, at 4 pm

Followed by a Special Live Call with Shaer’s family in Gaza and a Q&A discussion with the director

Some stories exist quietly at the edge of global attention. Not because they lack importance, but because they are uncomfortable to face.

Florida-based filmmaker Monear Shaer creates films to preserve voices at risk of being forgotten. To challenge emotional distance. To restore dignity through truthful representation. His work invites reflection rather than judgment. Presence rather than consumption.

All are welcome to attend!

Join us for a Watch Party of Rise Up and Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment

On June 14, the Committee for the First Amendment will be hosting Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment, an uplifting evening of song, solidarity, and action. Featuring an all-star line-up of performers, this 90-minute concert event will celebrate the freedoms guaranteed by our First Amendment—of speech, religion, press, assembly, and protest—and the people power that both fuels these rights and is essential to guarantee them.

Even as authoritarians increase their attacks on our freedoms and communities, we see examples across the country of people rising up together, taking action, and turning back those forces.

Doors open at 6:30 pm with the livestream concert at 7 pm

Join us, bring your own beverage,
and let's celebrate our First Amendment together!

Dr. Jes Martinez-Hunt will lead the service, "Something Beautiful May Be Beginning." In a time that invites us to brace and rush to certainty, this sermon explores curiosity as a quiet spiritual practice that keeps us open to one another, to transformation, and to love. We are invited to notice where something in our lives may still be unfolding, and to trust that even small openings can lead to meaningful change.

“Iran: Current Crisis & Future Prospects” with Dr. Mark Welton

Like any war, the conflict with Iran raises questions of what the future might hold for that country and its relationships with the rest of the world.

Regardless of the outcome, Iran will have to
deal with a number of crises that were coming to a head before the fighting began, and that will challenge any regime that might emerge after the fighting ends.

Join us to learn about Iran’s current situation and what might come next for the country, its government, and its people.

Presenter:
Dr. Mark Welton received his undergraduate degree with honors from Stanford University, three master’s degrees (in international relations, international business, and military law), and three law degrees: JD from Georgetown University Law School, LLM (Masters of Law) from the University of Virginia Law School, and SJD (PhD in Law), also from the University of Virginia Law School.

Dr. Welton served 20 plus years and retired from active duty as an Army Judge
Advocate working in international law, including as Chief of International Law for
the US Army Europe. In his second career as a civilian, he had the title of Professor of Discipline and Director of the Program in International and Comparative Law at the US Military Academy, West Point. He currently serves as book reviewer on
Islamic law for The Middle East Journal. He retired as Professor Emeritus and moved to The Villages in Florida in 2012.

All attendees are invited to share in a community potluck dinner following the discussion.

Join us Sunday, May 24, 9 am

The Rev. Kristina Spaude will lead the service, "Never Lose a Holy Curiosity." Curiosity is not just for children and cats. It can shape our lives: we learn to ask good and better questions, to seek for the truth, to explore how we, across difference, can be together. This morning we'll explore stories of people who have never lost their holy curiosity and what we might learn from this.

Whispering thank yous to a congregation hard at work for itself and the world

Debra Haffner’s prayer reminds us that gratitude is more than a feeling. It is a way of moving through the world with care and appreciation for one another. To feed each other. To trust each other. To say thank you for the abundance, love, and community that sustain us.

There is something powerful about pausing long enough to notice what is good in our lives.

In a busy and often overwhelming world, may we make space to notice what nourishes us and to hold gratitude close—not only for what we receive, but for the ways we care for one another along the way.
