There will be no House of Prayer gathering this coming Shabbat due to Labor Day weekend.

We’ll gather again the following Saturday to celebrate the Feast of Trumpets! 🎺🍎

🌙 Happy Rosh Chodesh Elul & Shabbat Shalom! 🕊️

Tonight, as the sun begins to set, we welcome not only another beautiful Shabbat, but also the beginning of the month of Elul—a sacred season that calls us to draw near, search our hearts, and prepare ourselves for the appointed times that lie ahead.

There is an ancient and beautiful picture associated with Elul:

The King is in the field. 👑

The King has left the palace and come near to His people. The invitation is open. Come. Draw near. Return.

Elul is a month of teshuvah—of turning and returning to YHWH with our whole hearts. It is a time to quiet the noise, examine our ways, repair what needs repairing, forgive where we need to forgive, seek forgiveness where we have caused hurt, and lay down the things that have slowly found their way between us and our King.

Before the sound of the shofar calls us to Yom Teruah, before the solemnity of Yom Kippur, and before the joy of Sukkot, we are given this beautiful season to prepare.

Not simply to prepare our calendars.

To prepare our hearts.

The traditional 40 days of teshuvah, beginning with Elul and carrying us toward Yom Kippur, remind us that repentance is more than feeling sorry. Teshuvah means return. It is the Father calling His children home.

“Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says YHWH of hosts.
— Malachi 3:7

What might He be asking you to lay down in this season?

Where have you grown distracted?

Where has your first love cooled?

Is there bitterness to release? A relationship to mend? An act of obedience you’ve delayed? Something you’ve tolerated that He is asking you to surrender?

The King is in the field.

And what a beautiful thing it is to know that when we turn toward Him, we find that He has already drawn near.

Tonight, we are so excited to gather together at Morrison Park in Glasgow to welcome Shabbat and Rosh Chodesh Elul together. 🌙🕯️

An Exciting New Chapter for House of Prayer

After much prayer and seeking the Lord's direction, we have made the decision to transition House of Prayer from a traditional church building to a home fellowship.

While our meeting location is changing, our ministry is not. House of Prayer will continue as a ministry of Melissa Collins Ministries, and our mission remains exactly the same: to love God, love people, make disciples, and proclaim His Word.

As we've continued studying the Scriptures, we've been drawn back to the example of the first-century believers. They gathered in homes, devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, fellowship, prayer, and breaking bread together. We believe there is something beautiful about returning to those roots as we seek to live out our faith as they did.

This transition also allows us to be better stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us. Instead of directing funds toward rent, utilities, and maintaining a building, we feel led to invest those resources into outreach, serving those in need, sharing the Gospel, and advancing the Kingdom.

The Church has never been a building—it has always been God's people.

We are incredibly excited about this next season and believe God is leading us into something both simple and powerful. We look forward to continuing to worship together, study His Word, celebrate the biblical feasts, pray, share meals, and grow as a family of believers.

Thank you to everyone who has walked this journey with us. We can't wait to see what God has in store for the days ahead.

We were so blessed by everyone who joined us for the Pentecost Baptism gathering this weekend. If you weren’t able to make it, don’t worry — there will be more opportunities ahead.

Our doors and hearts are always open to anyone wanting to grow in faith, learn more about the Scriptures, and fellowship with believers. We gather each Sabbath at 11:00 AM for worship, teaching, and a shared meal together.

🌿 This Week’s Torah Portion: Bamidbar (בְּמִדְבַּר) — “In the Wilderness” 🌿

This Sabbath, we begin the book of Numbers with the Torah portion Bamidbar, which means “In the Wilderness.”

Before Israel could move forward into their destiny, God called them into the wilderness—not to abandon them, but to organize them, number them, and position them around His presence.

The wilderness is often where we feel the most uncertain, but it is also where God teaches us who we are, where we belong, and how to walk in step with Him.

In this portion, every tribe is counted, every family is assigned a place, and the Tabernacle remains at the center. It is a beautiful reminder that God is a God of order, purpose, and presence.

No matter how isolated or disoriented you may feel, the Lord knows your name, your calling, and your position in His Kingdom.
