Question to ponder:
-Do I have a fearless faith? When I examine and test myself in the faith (2Cor. 13:5) would I see a boldness for Christ or a timidity in Him?

Fear is the biggest reason we hesitate to share the Gospel with those God places in our path.
In Matthew 10:28, Jesus tells us to fear God and do not fear man.

The cross is both a symbol of victory and a sign of what Christ requires of us when He says to take up our cross daily…He means we are to turn our lives completely over to Him.

As a Christ-follower, we are ambassadors of Jesus.
-What do others hear and see from me?
There are people who will never know Christ unless they see Christ in me; His love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control and forgiveness.

Please join Sulphur Baptist in praying for the hurting, broken, and lost all around us.
I will be out here until 11:00 today. If you need prayer, or are free and would like to come out and pray for others, please stop by. I am on KY-146, 1 block from the KY-157 junction.

1 Timothy 2:1: "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people."

There is a cost to following Jesus and spreading the Good News of God’s love and salvation plan through the death of His Son on the cross for the forgiveness of sins.
Jesus faced all kinds of opposition while He was here, and He makes it very clear…that We Will also face opposition.
Persecution Will Come. He sends us “out as sheep in the midst of wolves…”

The questions to ponder:
-Am I willing to risk the comforts of this world: my possessions, plans, dreams, money, and time for the Gospel?
-Am I willing to risk my safety and security in this world to spread the Good News here, there, and to the ends of the earth?
-Am I willing to sacrifice for the sake of others? Our lives are messy. Am I willing to have my heart broken, and my knees worn out and dirty from intercessory prayer, as I invest in others and in their mess?

We are surrounded by hurting, broken, and lost people. The one thing I learned about God, throughout all of those years that I spent running and rebelling against him in my sin (looking back) is this: God pursues us. He comes after us. He meets us in our pain and brokenness.

He uses people who are wanting and willing to be His hands and feet.

This prayer tent has been the means of God ministering to people who come, believing in the power of prayer.

People have also come, not believing, but are in so much pain that they come with a “hope.” A hope, that there is a God who loves them, who is listening, and will meet them in this dark place that they are in.

And that is exactly what God does. He goes into those dark places and calls them out. He has used this prayer tent to pour out His love, His grace, His mercy, and His forgiveness to those who need it.

I have set up just outside of New Castle. Take a left off of Ky-55 and I am just a couple blocks down before turning right onto Ky-157 to Sulphur.

I will be out here every Friday from 7:30 until I leave for work at 12:30.
Please pray with me.

As we study Matthew 10:1-15, there are four truths that stand out:

First, we see from the list of these 12 men Jesus chose as His disciples, we see something remarkable… we see how unremarkable they are. He chooses to use ordinary people, like you and me, for His purposes.

Secondly, in this list of 12 men, the testimony of Judas is a tragic and scary reminder that we can be near to Jesus, but still miss Him. The most dangerous place to be is close to the gospel but not changed by it.

Thirdly, Jesus calls His disciples to imitate Him on His mission to reach the hurting, broken, and lost.

Lastly, whatever it is that you love and are looking for, WILL impact, what you are living for.

Question to ponder: Am I willing to risk my reputation wherever I go (work, school, gym, grocery store etc..) to spread the Good News to the ends of a lost and broken world that need to hear from and about Jesus?

Sulphur Baptist Church would like to wish all the ladies in the community a Blessed Mother’s Day!
Thank you for all you do to pour into the lives of our future generations.
“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.” Psalm 127:3

“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.’ Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.” Proverbs 31:25-30

Questions to ponder:
1) Am I persevering in Hope despite my circumstances?
2) Am I following Jesus into the margins? (Living out those things that God has spoken directly to me, through His written Word, that I have written down in the margins of my Bible).
3) Am I being the hands and feet of Jesus to those He places around me? ie: the marginalized, the widows, orphans, those in need.

Monday night, I (David), found myself outside, as the rain poured down on me. It was dark, with the exception of the occasional flash of lightning that cracked across the sky, giving me light as I tried to find my way through the branches and leaves of the 75-foot Hackberry tree that had just landed on top of my neighbor’s house. Once I found my way to the front door, I was invited into the house. You could see, hear, and feel the desperation. Two toddlers running around, confused and scared. Their mom holding a relatively calm, infant, and dad was on the phone, talking to someone as he hurriedly described the water that was flowing down the walls and flooding the floors. I went up to the second floor to assess what I could, only to see the ceiling of the children’s bedroom, accumulating water. I then located the attic crawlspace, and I went up. Turns out there were multiple branches that had punctured through the roof and was allowing water to flow into the house. After the fire department came, cut holes in the ceiling to relieve water pressure and limiting further damage and cutting off the power, my bride and I opened our home up to this family for the night.

These pictures are from the next day. A Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief team arrived, along with others, to volunteer with the clearing of the tree and securing a tarp over the holes in the roof.

Our Baptist Cooperative Program hard at work.

Churches contribute a percentage of our tithes to the SBC Co-Op which funds evangelism, church planting, Seminary training, compassion ministries, and disaster relief (just to name a few).

The Hands and Feet of Jesus were at work and God was Glorified, as His children displayed the love of Jesus.

Jesus sees beyond our immediate (felt) need and goes to the root and addresses our greatest need- forgiveness of sins.

Questions to ponder:
-Do I have a “tear off the roof” kind of faith?
-Do I do whatever is necessary to get/be in the presence of Jesus?

This beautiful baby is hanging around Sulphur Baptist Church today. He is very friendly and has a collar, but I’m afraid he is going to get hit. If anyone in the area can share this, so he can make it home safely, that would be greatly appreciated.

“Storms not only test and develop your character…they reveal it…If you don’t spend time with the LORD in the calm of life, you won’t know how to trust Him in the storms.”
Quote by Hudson Taylor, a missionary to China from 1853 until his death in 1905.

Questions to ponder:
-Have I considered the cost of following Jesus? Everyday we are faced with choices to make. Some are easy to make while others require sacrifice(s).
-If I were to lose everything and only have Jesus, would Jesus be enough?
