Most of us know that carbon monoxide is known as the silent killer, but did you know that there are silent killers in the church and in the Christian life?
Legalism is a silent killer. It kills joy, causes fear, discouragement, anger, and it can be a dangerous source of pride. It misunderstands the heart of God’s Word, misses the spirit of His commands, and it misses God Himself.
The Sabbath was a subject of legalism in Jesus’ day.
Are we going to church every Sunday because it’s expected of us out of a sense of duty, or are we going to rest in, engage with, and to intimately worship our LORD and Savior?
Legalism blinds us to Jesus. It causes us to be stiff-necked and stubborn. The solution is to be transformed by the grace of Jesus and focus on who He is.
True rest is found in the One who paid it all on the cross of Calvary.
Questions to ponder:
-Am I growing in grace?
-Am I showing compassion and showing up for the hurting, broken, and lost (the bruised reeds and smoldering wicks) that the LORD has placed before me?
