💡 Parenting Tip Tuesday

Teach the "How," Not Just the "What"

Have you ever told your child what to do, only to find that nothing changes?

Many children need more than instructions, they need guidance on how to put those instructions into practice. Instead of simply saying, "Have a better attitude," teach them what that looks like. Instead of "Be kind to your brother," help them learn specific ways to respond when they're frustrated.

✔️ Practice responses together.
✔️ Break big behaviors into small steps.
✔️ Create simple plans for challenging situations.

God often teaches us this way. He didn't just tell His people to obey. He carefully explained His commands so they could understand and follow them.

"These are the commands, decrees and laws the LORD your God directed me to teach you..." - Deuteronomy 6:1-2

When we move from telling to teaching, we help our children develop skills that lead to lasting change.

💛 Instead of only correcting behavior, step into the role of a coach.

A coach walks alongside, encourages, and guides their child toward positive change with both grace and truth. God parents us this way—He doesn’t just correct us, He equips us. Through the Holy Spirit, He gently leads us, strengthens us, and helps us grow.

📖 “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to help you and be with you forever.” – John 14:16

This week, look for moments to coach your child—cheer them on, guide them through mistakes, and remind them they’re never alone in the process. 🤝

Parenting Tip Tuesday 💛

Ever feel like you’re repeating yourself over and over, just trying to guide your kids toward what’s right? You’re not alone.

✨ Tip: Practice firmness with heart.
Firmness isn’t just about consequences, it’s about catching behaviors early, being consistent, and helping your child recognize patterns so they can grow. When used well, it gently disrupts habits and points them toward better choices.

But here’s the key: balance matters.
Too much firmness can overwhelm, so pair it with love, grace, and understanding.

Let your words be clear, consistent, and rooted in truth—without needing to add pressure or persuasion.
