We are excited to announce the formation of The Epworth League, Inc., a global ministry and missionary service headquartered in Wisconsin focused on young adults aged 18 to 30 years old. We are a community of passionate followers of Jesus Christ who are committed to Christ led transformation in individuals and communities by proclaiming the Gospel in word and deed, through love, humanitarianism, a
nd environmental stewardship. The Epworth League Inc., is the new sponsor of all of the programs and ministries related to Servant Community church and it’s Epworth League ministry including the Texas Spring Break Mission trips, the Christian Disciple Farm VBS for families with special needs children, the Rocky Mountain Retreat, and the Summer Discipleship intensive. No other major changes are taking place with these events other than the organization sponsoring them. Sue and Ken Rheingans are still leading most of these efforts and Ken is the president of the new non-profit. (Note - We are in the process of obtaining 501c3 status) As a result we are no longer part of the United Methodist Church. However our new non-profit corporation will continue to follow the early Methodist tradition of spiritual formation and discipleship. Some of our key practices of aiding spiritual growth in young adults were initially developed and put into practice by John and Charles Wesley nearly 300 years ago. is now launching a global missionary program. Our goal is to train and deploy 1000 young adult missionaries over the next 10 years. A unique aspect of our missionary program is that missionaries can serve in humanitarian or environmental stewardship capacities. While many young adult ministries are inner city focused the Epworth League is also committed to getting young adults into God’s creation. Environmental stewardship placements may include ministries that will foster community involvement in national parks, national forests, farms, wildlife refuges, environmental education, and inner city gardens. This is a God sized task and we are excited about making it a reality. We also still have openings for our Summer Discipleship Intensive. This 12 week program is designed to help young adults take their faith to the next level, through living in a Christ-centered community. Participants will experience many life firsts while serving others, and while being immersed in God’s creation. As a part of this unique program, participants also get to explore six different national parks throughout the summer, spending multiple weeks in mission, sharing the Gospel, meeting new people, planning and coordinating weekly outreach events, and experiencing God in new and exciting ways. If you or someone you know is 18-26 years old please encourage them to apply. https://www.epworthleague.org/program
