Holy Annunciation OCDS

Holy Annunciation OCDS A secular Catholic christian community that seeks to serve God and His Church by a deepening prayer life through learning and living Carmelite spirituality.

The Lay Carmelites ( Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites) are Roman Catholic men and women called to seek God's will in the ordinary circumstances of everyday life. They are part of an 800 year-old tradition of prayer, community and ministry. They share a deep spirituality embraced by St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, St. Therese of Lisieux and others. The Secular Carmelite Order of

the Blessed Virgin Mary (formerly known as the Third Order of Carmel) is an association mainly of lay persons. Its members, responding to a special call of God, freely and deliberately commit themselves “to live in the following of Jesus Christ” according to the charism, traditions, and spirit of Carmel under the authority of the Superior General of the Discalced Carmelite Order. The members, though not in Religious Life, choose to live out their baptismal commitment according to the spirit of the Carmelite Order. Members are brothers and sisters of the Carmelite Family and sharers in the same call to holiness and in the same mission of the Carmelite Order.

FYI: This page is for the SECULAR Discalced Carmelites. The Nuns at the monastery do not utilize this. The nuns allow us to meet on the monastery grounds and we are able to get messages to them but it is best to contact the monastery directly.
Sorry for any confusion.
We are happy to pray for anyone who would like to leave a request and we will answer any questions someone has about this secular community.
