At one point or another, our lives have all been touched by the care of a nurse. Nurses represent the largest portion of the health care workforce with an estimated 80% of the global healthcare needs being met by nurses and midwives, according to the World Health Organization. And yet, nurses are often under-valued and under-utilized, especially in low-resource countries.
By establishing the The Center for Global Nursing Development through its parent organization, the Medical Benevolence Foundation, we are committed to improving nursing education, advancing nursing practice and empowering nursing leadership so that nursing professionals in less resourced countries have the skills, knowledge and leadership qualities to improve the quality of and access to health care in their countries.
