Another song born out of our reaction to the racial injustice in our country. This is a spiritual sung during the civil rights movement with a tag we wrote based around Amos 5:24.

May we sing in faith when God feels absent.
May we stand in solidarity with the oppressed.
May we cry out for justice.

I'll take the hand of my sister

In recent days, following the murder of George Floyd, as we mourned the continuing history of racial injustice in our land, we lamented the deficient lexicon of modern worship music.

What song could capture our need to repent of the church’s complicity in racial bias and segregation? What song would invite the Spirit to help us see the image of God in one another?

Though there was no such song, there was a prayer many of us had prayed all our lives. A prayer of confession, and a prayer for freedom to obey.

We put music to these traditional words, believing our God hears us when we pray. May these words and melodies lead us to be a faithful and obedient church. May we hear the cries of our neighbor.

Through Christ our Lord.

Our team has loved worshipping in the basement during Covid-19.

We felt a strong anointing on this song in particular as we sang of God's love carrying our community through this season!
