Urgent Prayer for Nepal🇳🇵

On August 26, 2026, a catastrophic flash flood entered the Bhote Koshi River from the Tibetan side, causing widespread devastation across Nepal's Rasuwa district and neighboring regions. The disaster, reportedly triggered by an earthquake that caused an avalanche and a suspected Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF), struck hard in riverside markets and settlements including Timure, Syabrubesi, and Rasuwagadhi. The surging water has claimed at least 22 lives, damaged 12 hydropower plants, destroyed critical roads and bridges, and left hundreds of people including local laborers, security personnel, and foreign tourists missing or stranded

Prayer Points for the Rasuwa Flood Disaster
1. For Swift Rescue Operations: Pray for the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police as they navigate blocked roads and severe weather to reach isolated border villages.

2. For the Protection of the Missing: Pray for the immediate location and safety of the dozens of missing security officers, tourists, and the 25+ workers trapped inside the Langtang Hydropower project tunnel.

3. For Grieving and Displaced Families: Pray for comfort for those who have lost loved ones, and for immediate shelter, food, and medical aid for the hundreds who have lost their homes.

4. For Downstream Communities: Pray for the safety of people living along the Trishuli River in Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan as they evacuate to higher ground.

5. For Emergency Responders and Medical Teams: Pray for endurance, strength, and resources for the Nepal Red Cross Society, medical workers, and volunteers distributing essential aid.

6. For Favorable Weather and Stability: Pray for the rain to cease and for the blocked river channels to clear safely to prevent further secondary flash floods or mudslides.

Saturday during our world view tour, 15 people showed up to learn how to reach our Hindu neighbors. We walked through cultural perspectives, history, beliefs, bridges to the Gospel and apologetic resources. We visited a Hindu temple and had a time of silent prayer for them all. when the shuttle got us back to Sugar Creek, Kevin Greeson led a Satsang focused on Jesus. It is a wonderful resource to connect with our Hindu neighbors. We concluded with a powerful testimony of a dear sister from Sugar Creek. Asha shared her story of growing up in Hinduism. She was always hoping she did enough for a good rebirth. "Were the Gods satisfied?" was a constant thought. After being exposed to Christians in college she learned about Jesus. As she placed her faith in Jesus and grew in faith, she learned that Jesus was enough. No more striving, no more constantly trying to do a ritual to please a god. Her sin had been atoned for by Jesus and she knew she was loved and accepted by God. Now her heart burns to share this truth with her neighbors. Does that sound like a Saturday you could get excited about? Be on the lookout for the next world view tour focusing on Buddhism. - November 21st | SL Campus

We will miss having Josh at Second Mile Mission Center but we are excited about his season.

Second Mile donation day is happening on July 26th, at all campuses. It's a great time to help your old clothing and home goods find a new home. A donation truck and Second Mile staff will be at each campus. It's easy to participate. Just bring your donations with you to church and we will help you get it on the truck. These donations become part of the donation shop which provides goods to the community at a low price. The income helps Second Mile and provides dignity for our neighbors.

As a church, we have already responded to the crisis in Venezuela by sending a significant financial gift through one of our trusted ministry partners to support their ongoing relief efforts.
We are also waiting to hear from them, as well as another of our mission partners, regarding opportunities and timing for sending volunteer teams to serve on the ground.
In the meantime, we invite you to continue praying for those affected by the earthquake, for the first responders and relief workers, and above all, for those who are sharing the hope of the Gospel in the midst of this tragedy. May Christ’s love be seen, His comfort be experienced, and many hearts be drawn to Him during this difficult time.

----------------------------------------------------

This hits close to home. Our own Pastor Ender Palencia was born in Venezuela. We have a strong community of Venezuelans at Sugar Creek. Our hearts are heavy as we watch the people of Venezuela endure the devastation of back‑to‑back earthquakes. In moments like these, words often feel small compared to the weight of loss, fear, and uncertainty that so many families are carrying. Homes have been shaken, communities disrupted, and lives forever changed. We pray comfort find those who are hurting, may strength rise where there is exhaustion, and may restoration come to every place that has been shaken.

We stand with Venezuela—today and in the days ahead—with compassion, with generosity, and with our missional support. 🙏🇻🇪

Happy Fathers day to these guys! 🥳

God used Gospel conversation training to deeply impact my life. I came to Sugar Creek after 17 years of Gospel Ministry in a church planting context. I was tired, and heartbroken from ministry. God brought renewed zeal and healing community when I began serving with Sugar Creek. Meeting friends that were serving in missions was so inspiring for me and my family. We had never seen a church that provided so many opportunities for people to make a difference in the community and around the world. It was so special to have a friend call and ask us to go to lunch to strategize how to reach people or to join their mission team. We have had the joy of serving all over the city and around the world. It all started with an invitation from our Missions Pastor and our yes. 11 years later, my family and I are still actively serving in missions and inviting others to do the same. Maybe this is your beginning? Here is my Gospel conversation story.
