Ismaili Jamatkhana and Center

Ismaili Jamatkhana and Center Appreciating pluralism & fostering interfaith dialogue, cultural exchange and knowledge.

In 2002, His Highness the Aga Khan and Governor Rick Perry jointly inaugurated the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Center in Sugar Land, TX as a place for fostering an appreciation of pluralism and for enhancing relationships among faith communities, government and civil society. Events at the Center aspire to stimulate the intellect, encourage dialogue, and celebrate cultural diversity in the greater Houston area.

The National Civics Bee brought together talented middle school students from across Houston to showcase their civic knowledge, critical thinking, and passion for creating positive change in their communities.

Ismaili Council in partnership with Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce hosted the National Civics Bee where students shared their perspectives on important civic issues, presented solutions to community challenges, and demonstrated the power of informed dialogue and active citizenship.

Congratulations to all the participants who took the stage and inspired us with their ideas, leadership, and commitment to building stronger communities.

Houston, we are honored. 💛

Thank you, Mayor John Whitmire , Council Member Julian Ramirez, and the Houston City Council, for reaffirming Houston as a Compassionate City — our third proclamation.

Board President Pam Lewis shared our gratitude on behalf of our board, partners, and volunteers, reminding us that compassion is both a value and a daily practice in the most diverse large city in the nation.

We are proud to call this compassionate city home.
