This past Sunday, we held a de-commissioning service for our playground. Surrounded by laughter and giggles from small and old, we gave thanks for the many years of memories and faithful service. This week, we will have it carefully removed and repurposed to a new home and prepare for our nre playground installation later this summer.

Good Friday: The Weight of the Wood

Scripture: "When Jesus had received the wine, he said, 'It is finished.' Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit." — John 19:30

Snapshot: A silhouette against a darkening sky. The empire sees a defeat; Love sees a bridge to humanity.

Thought: Love sees our deepest suffering and chooses to step into it, refusing to leave us alone in the dark.

Prayer: Loving God, we remember the moment when Jesus declared, “It is finished.” May we embrace the depth of this sacrifice and understand the love that it represents. Help me to carry this message of grace and forgiveness in our hearts, especially during times of struggle and sorrow. Thank you for seeing my need and answering it with your life. I am found in your finished work.

Amen.

Maundy Thursday: The Basin and the Bread

Scripture: "I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another." — John 13:34

Snapshot: The Son of God on His knees, washing travel-worn feet. Later, He breaks bread, turning a meal into a lasting promise.

Thought: Love sees the dignity in service and the holiness in the simple acts of breaking and sharing.

Prayer: Gracious God, You meet us in humble gestures: in the kneeling that honors Your presence, in the washing that cleanses with care, in the breaking of the bread that remembers Your sacrifice, and the sharing that binds us together as one. Bless my hands to serve, my heart to give, and my life to reflect Your love through every quiet act of grace. In Jesus name. Amen.

Holy Wednesday: The Anointing of Devotion

Scripture: "Truly I tell you... what she has done will be told in remembrance of her." — Matthew 26:13

Snapshot: The scent of expensive nard fills a room. A woman breaks her alabaster jar, pouring everything out. Many see "waste," but Jesus sees love and beauty.

Thought: Love sees the value in total surrender, regardless of what the "economies of the world" might say.

Prayer: Lord, in moments of worry and distraction, let us remember the beauty of unwavering love, as shown by the woman who anointed Jesus with expensive perfume. May my devotion be as unreserved as hers. Teach me to give my best to you without counting the cost. In Jesus name. Amen.

Beloved, tomorrow is Maundy Thursday, and our service starts at 7:00 PM. Please prepare, pray, and plan to attend worship.

Holy Tuesday: The Teaching in the Shadows

Scripture: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind." — Matthew 22:37

Snapshot: Jesus sitting in the temple courts, answering traps with Truth. The religious leaders see a threat; the seekers see a Light.

Thought: Love sees the difference between a law that binds and a Truth that sets us free.

Prayer: Loving God, source of mercy and grace. Help me to love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind. May I honor your laws yet seek the deeper truth that brings freedom. Guide me to understand that while laws instruct, it is the truth in Your love that liberates and transforms. Give me eyes to see the Truth of your Word. Guide my steps in your wisdom and my heart in your love. In Jesus name. Amen.

Beloved, the laws provide structure, while LOVE enriches our actions and relationships - kindness and compassion towards others.
