MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. On this national day of service may we be empowered to take up our roles in the movement toward racial justice, knowing that each of us has unique gifts to offer, and together, we are the Spirit’s movement toward love.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:

Coincidentally, the fourth Sunday of Advent fell on Christmas Eve. In some traditions the fifth candle, which is the white candle in the center of the advent wreath, is lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas. On this fourth week of Advent and on this Christmas Day, we hope that you were able to spend quality time with family and friends. We hope that you were able to give and receive the love of Jesus Christ and reflect on the gift of our Saviors birth.

On this 3rd week of advent remember that joy is a choice. Do something that brings you joy this Christmas season.
