Central Kids Kid Central — the Children's Ministry at Central Church of Christ in Streator.

In 1965, Central Church of Christ decided to start its own "Children's Church" on Sunday mornings for toddlers. Soon the ministry grew to include pre-schoolers and eventually all elementary-age children had a place to call their own at Central. If you come to a Kid Central event today, you'll experience something vastly different than children experienced 50 years ago, but the message of love and learning remains.

OPERATION BIRTHDAY CAKE

Central Kids preschool class will once again this year take on the community mission to supply birthday cake kits for at-risk children and teens.

Now through the end of March, there will
be a box in the foyer for donations. We are asking for our church family to donate anything “birthday” related, such as cake mixes, frosting, candles, party plates, napkins, balloons, and 13x9 in. foil cake pans with a lid.

The preschool class will then put the birthday kits together, and they will be given out at the area food pantries, homeless shelters, all Streator area schools' food pantries, and the little
micropantries about the community.
Thank you so much for considering being a part of our birthday mission project to ensure that local children can celebrate their special day.

Hey Central Kids! It’s challenge time!!!!!

We have challenged the kids in Sunday School ages Kindergarten through 5th grade to memorize the books of the Bible. When they are ready the kids can recite the books of the Bible to a teacher to hear them.

With heavy hearts, we must announce the cancellation of this year’s Lighted Christmas Parade in Streator. ❄️💔

This is the first time in over 20 years that we’ve had to make this difficult decision — and what an incredible run we’ve had together. For more than two decades, this parade has filled our streets with light, joy, and the spirit of community, and we’re so grateful for everyone who has helped make it magical year after year.

Unfortunately, the incoming snowstorm presents too many risks for our participants, volunteers, and parade-goers. Your health and safety will always come first. From hazardous roads to limited visibility and dangerous wind chills, the conditions simply aren’t safe for a large outdoor event.

We know how disappointing this is, and we feel it too. To help keep a little of the holiday spirit alive, the sponsored lighted floats will still be available for viewing at the City Park tonight only. We hope this brings some joy and a bit of sparkle to your evening.

And for those hoping to see Santa, he will be at the Incubator today from noon until 3 p.m. if you’d like to stop by.

Thank you for your understanding, for your support, and for being part of such a cherished tradition. Stay safe, stay warm, and may your holiday season continue to shine brightly. ❤️✨

Hey Kids! The light up parade is coming!!!! Our theme for this year is “Jesus is the Sweetest gift!”
We invite all of our Central Kids with their families to walk with us in the parade. We ask that you dress up as a present, a peppermint candy, or come covered in Christmas lights.
