Join us at 10 a.m tomorrow, Sunday, August 23rd for our Founders' Day worship service. Following worship there will be a covered-dish fellowship meal. Also, a historical display has been set up in the assembly room of our Sunday School annex to be viewed by all. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

We invite you to join us on Sunday, August 23, 2026, for our “Founders’ Day Sunday.” This year as we celebrate our church’s 200th anniversary, we pause to remember its formal organization as a congregation which took place on August 26, 1826, in the Stickley Meetinghouse, which later became known as the Walnut Springs Church.

The day will begin with worship at 10 a.m. depicting what worship would have been like in that one room log meetinghouse. Reverend Wendell Schurtz will bring the morning sermon highlighting our church’s origins, its guiding spiritual principals rooted in the Restoration Movement of the 1800’s, and the vision and dedication of those early founding fathers and mothers of the Walnut Springs Church. Following the worship service there will be a fellowship luncheon in the fellowship hall. A historical display of information, artifacts, and old photos of our church’s story will be available for viewing.

We hope you will be with us on this special occasion as we honor the founders of Walnut Springs Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), celebrate our spiritual heritage, and reflect on the 200-year legacy of faith of our congregation.
