Good Shepherd by the Lake is excited to officially welcome our new pastor- Pastor Douglas Stowe! Pastor Stowe had his installation service on Sunday August 9th. Here's a little bit about Pastor Stowe and his family:
Pastor Stowe was born and raised in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where he attended Trinity Lutheran Church and School. He met the love of his life, his wife, Sue, at Concordia University Wisconsin in 1989, and they were married on August 1, 1992. Sue hails from Berlin, Wisconsin, where she attended St. John Lutheran Church and School.
The adventure they began at CUW took them to St. Louis, where Pastor attended Concordia Seminary and Sue graduated from Webster University. Montana was next for his vicarage (a year-long internship) at Trinity Lutheran Church, Billings. After two more years in St. Louis, where their first child, Joshua, was born, Pastor was called as the associate pastor at Zion Lutheran Church, Auburn, Michigan. Andrew and Abby, their other children, were born in nearby Midland. As their 10th wedding anniversary approached, they moved to Waterford, Michigan, where he was the pastor at St. Stephen Lutheran Church for nine years.
In 2011, the family moved back to Wisconsin, where Pastor Stowe shepherded the Lord’s flock at Divine Savior, Hartford, and where Sue worked with special needs students as a paraprofessional at Lincoln Elementary School. All three children graduated from Hartford Union High School.
Josh went to UW—Platteville to study criminal justice: he is a police officer in Platteville. He and his wife, Abby (a vet tech), have one child, Spencer (our only grandchild!), two dogs, and a cat.
Andrew went to UW—Madison and graduated with a degree in political science and philosophy; he later earned a Master’s degree from American University in Washington, DC, in international conflict resolution and peacekeeping. He will become a high school social studies teacher following his student teaching this fall.
UW—Oshkosh beckoned Abby, and she is a special education/early childhood teacher in Omro, Wisconsin. She, too, has a cat.
In their empty-nest years, Pastor and Sue enjoy evening walks when the Wisconsin weather permits, bingeing television shows old and new, and travelling when they can. They like wine (in moderation), a great dinner out (where’s the best fish fry in the Stoughton area?), and time with family and friends. Music figures large in their lives, both making it and listening to it. They avidly follow the Milwaukee Brewers, the Green Bay Packers, the UW Women’s Volleyball team, and the US Women’s National Soccer Team.
They (we!) are so excited to begin working with you! We pray God’s blessings on our pilgrimage with the Lord together!)
Welcome Pastor! Service on Sunday is at 9:00 am. Come and welcome him in person!
