In this week's scripture lesson, we explore what it truly means to live as a community rooted in forgiveness and reconciliation.
Forgiveness is rarely easy. It requires honest conversations, vulnerable hearts, and a willingness to restore what has been broken. Yet, Jesus promises that when we do this difficult work together, Jesus is right there with us. Let us draw near to God and one another at worship service on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a time of refreshments and fellowship. Whether you are seeking forgiveness, learning to extend it, or simply needing the comfort of community, all are welcome here just as they are.

Welcome Weekend@SCC
On Saturday, August 29, our church lawn came alive with special events to welcome both new and returning Huskies to the neighborhood.
Under the late summer sky and the sounds of live music, our SCC volunteers offered warm smiles and friendly faces, greeting students and their families and offering support, information, hand-outs, mini-Flat Jesus cards, and delicious baked goods made by members of our congregation. A huge thank you to all those who volunteered, baked, or lent a hand to make the students and their families feel so welcome.
We wish everyone a fantastic school year!

Free Carillon Concert tomorrow at 5!
Margaret Angelini, carillonneur at Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA., will perform on the church’s Austin Cornelius Dunham Carillon. Housed high in the steeple of the church, the carillon has been serenading the Storrs-Mansfield community since 1931. Angelini will play works from a trio of contemporary American composers, the Beatles, songs from the movies, and works from the church’s own backyard—"The UConn Husky Fight Song” and “Old Connecticut.” A live stream of the carillonneur playing in the tower will allow the audience to see how the bells are played.

"Guests are invited to bring a picnic and relax on the church lawn while the tower bells ring in a joyful beginning to the new school year,” said Dr. Patricia Snyder, the congregation’s Director of Music Ministry. “All are welcome!”

The event will be held rain or shine.

Storrs Congregational Church will host a Welcome Weekend celebration heralding the new and returning area students to the campus, followed by a concert on the church’s historic carillon.

The celebration will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, with the free concert from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Both events will be held on the church lawn at 2 N. Eagleville Road, adjacent to the University of Connecticut campus.

The annual celebration offers an opportunity for students and the wider community to greet friends and learn about community resources. This year’s event will feature musical performances by singer/guitarist Chris McLean and the band AshBABY, founded by a group of UConn students. Local organizations will host table displays, and the church will distribute free baked goods and other treats to students.

Noon Hour Organ Recital Series Starting up again in September! Break up your day and experience the power of live music. Our popular lunchtime organ recitals are back starting this September. Featuring incredible organists and a diverse repertoire of classical masterworks, these free 30-minute performances offer the perfect midday escape.
