For the 10:30 service this morning we examined the Sabbath. In conclusion we considered the Isrealites need to prepare for it a day before hand, as found in Exodus chapter 16. As we ended we asked ourselves 3 questions every believer should ask themselves from time to time:

How much did I prepare for today?

What if my pastor prepared for today as I did?

What if I prepared for today as my pastor did?

Q: What is the purpose of the Church?
A: It is dual in purpose; to glorify God and edify the saints.

Q: How is this acheived?
A: By various methods derived from and centered around the Scriptures, chiefly; singing, praying as a congregation, preaching and teaching from Word of God, in all of these things God is glorified and the people are encouraged to good works.

Now there is a type of Christian life which is more attractive in appearance......the warmly emotional and fervent Christian life. But that type, by all experience shows, has a pit dug close beside it into which it is apt to fall. These were some of Edward's last words to his children. Fathers, please know that your flesh will one day fail you and your children, so teach them now to lean on our heavenly Father who cannot fail. So that when you are not here they can find strength and solace in Someone far greater than you.
We need to understand that we are perishable implements who have been entrusted with the Lord's heritage (our children) and as such we need to prepare not only ourselves for our perishing but our children as well. How do we do That? - By LIVING!!! Living a life trusting in Him who never fails and teaching our children to do the same.
