RYC Reborn Young Christ

RYC Reborn Young Christ Reborn Young Christ is a faith movement of young people in the Catholic Church under the guidance of Salesians of St. John Bosco. RYC is founded by Fr. Fr.

Gus Baek, S.D.B. (Salesians of St. John Bosco). Gus and RYC Young Adults Team members saw the need for a revised youth ministry, especially for the Korean American Catholic Community. The vision began to have of RYC was the year of the great Jubilee. Our first meeting with the RYC Young Adults Team Members began on October 17, 2000. This ministry to Korean Americans is aimed especially at high sch

ool and college level students. It seeks to deepen their Catholic faith and maintain the riches of their Korean culture, while adjusting to a new language and a new culture.

Wrapping up the 2025 NY/NJ Basketball Tournament! This year, we hosted 73 players from 5 parishes for our event. 🙌 We were so blessed to see a mix of new players and returning faces, many of which we haven’t seen now since 2018.

The top three teams for for this year were:
1st place: St. Paul’s B
2nd place: Demarest
3rd place: Maplewood (SAK)

Shout-out as well to additional award winners:
2025 MVP: Dylan Kim (St. Paul's B)
2025 Defensive Player of the Year: Justin Hwang (Demarest)
2025 Most Christ-like: Brian Kim (Saddlebrook)

Thank you again to all of the players and spectators that made our event possible this year. As mentioned in the closing ceremony, these events are difficult to make happen but are so rewarding when we get to see our Catholic communities come together. We cherish these moments with all of you! đź«° Cheers again to our big first return tournament in forever and we will aim to make 2026 an even better experience.

Hello everyone! We're excited to share that this summer, we will be hosting our first-ever RYC New Beginning retreat, specifically for college students to early grads ages 18-24. Retreat dates will be this Summer, from July 25th to July 27th.

Why 18-24? We believe that this is one of the most difficult times to maintain your faith, and finding faith networks of individuals at a similar walk of life at this age can be extremely challenging. Our whole team knows from personal experience!

We truly hope this year to grow a platform moving forward for this audience, and provide an easier connection & transition eventually into our Young Adult communities.

Registration is open now at RYCReborn.org! There you will find additional info for our new team this year, as well as other events we're organizing this summer. We hope to see you there 🙏

This past weekend, we were able to celebrate a beautiful return for RYC to Marian Shrine for the first time in 8 years. 60 total participants/team members were able to come together from 12 different parishes (even from Boston and Pittsburgh!) across 5 different states. One family, under one roof, to glorify Him and dive deep into our theme of humility throughout the weekend. And what a weekend it was!

Special thanks to our retreat director Amy Min Kim, our wonderful guest speaker Jae Lee, our spiritual guide for the weekend Fr. Andrew Lee, and the RYC service team for the many sacrifices made towards making this weekend happen. 🙏

Returning to Marian Shrine was incredibly nostalgic and emotional at moments, but at the same time, a beautiful reminder that the years past are not lost. And in fact, there are so much ahead of us not just for RYC, but for our Korean Catholic communities as a unified whole! Thank you, especially to all our participants for the weekend, for reminding us again of how much strength and beauty lies within each of our communities today.

We continue to be amazed by the support and many blessings sent our way throughout our whole preparation process and of course, throughout the weekend. This revival of RYC and Fr. Gus’s dream would not be possible without each and every one of you. Let’s all keep it going together, yeah? 👏 Cheers to another amazing weekend, and see you all again very soon!

Hey RYC fam,

Following our praise night in September (apologies as we realize we only posted about these on our IG page!), we're back with another Praise Night to close out the year with praise, activities, and time with fellow community members!

Come join us on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, from 5:00PM to 08:30PM EST.

We’re also changing up the scenery a bit, as we’re heading back to New Jersey! The Parish of Madonna Roman Catholic Church has graciously offered their location to hold this event.

This event is free & open to all interested, whether you’ve attended any of our past events or not! As always, registration link can be found at RYCReborn.org (for head count purposes, registration not mandatory to attend). We’re so excited to see you all soon ❤️

An unimaginable weekend, filled with 55 participants from over 5 states and 10 parishes. If there’s anything we can say for certain from this weekend, it’s that our Korean Catholic communities still stand strong in 2023 — and that we all still have so much faith, love, and adventures ahead of us.

To all the participants this past weekend, thank. You. Truly, this would not have been possible without your trust in us — and we pray that the weekend was a fruitful and fun experience that you will always be able to remember along in your faith journeys next week, 5 years from now, 30 years from now.

Special shout-out to all parties that made this happen. For Dr. Hoon Choi, for the current RYC Team, and for the religious leaders within our communities who prayed for us and assisted us throughout the weekend. We could not have made this weekend happen without all of your support, and for that support, we are eternally grateful. 🙏

Consistently, people have been asking throughout the community (participants and non-participants), what’s next? Well, we will need a bit of time to regather and reflect before we can answer that officially. But as of right now, we can only guarantee that this won’t be the last RYC — rather, a fire to kickstart something much bigger. But that will be another post for a later time. Until then, we are once again so grateful for all of your presences with us this weekend — God bless and we will for sure see all of you again, soon!
