We have all had one of those days where you just want to scream at the top of your lungs. A day when it seems as if everything that could possibly go wrong, has done so. A day when you want to throw your phone in the lake, quit your job, and move somewhere where there are no people. But before you say something you will regret and do something you can’t undo, talk to the Lord. Unload your frustration on Him. And let the Holy Spirit renew you. Let Him replace your anger with peace, your grief with joy, and your despair with hope. Let Him fill your heart with love for God and for others, even the ones causing you so much turmoil. And spending quiet time in prayer and the Word on a daily basis will help you avoid finding yourself in such a state of turmoil the next time things don’t go as planned.
May the Spirit of God renew you today. Amen.

Yesterday there was a silk moth in my garden. And so you ask, “What does that have to do with James 1:17? How is a moth a perfect gift?”. Because it brought me the same joy that someone else might have after finding a fifty-dollar bill that flew into their garden. The Lord knows our hearts. And I know He sent that moth to me to remind me of His presence and His love. I pray He sends you a special blessing today as well. Amen.

I am so glad that “the Lord is my shepherd” (Psalm 23:1). The Bible often uses this descriptor when referring to our blessed Lord, and it paints a beautiful picture of His love, His tender care, and His unwavering devotion to His ‘flock’. Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep” (John 10:11). Yes, He even gave His life for us, His beloved sheep, so we could live with Him forever. You can’t get a greater love than that. Amen.

I’m sure there have been times you have felt as Job did, and had days, weeks, or even years, when nothing seemed to go your way. Job’s wife told him to curse God and die. His friends tried to lay the blame on him. But although Job cried out to God for answers, his faith remained strong, and just as our Lord promises in Romans 8:28, He brought good out of all Job went through. So if you are going through a tough time, it is OK to tell God how you feel and to ask Him ‘why’, but don’t let doubt creep in and lose faith in His love and goodness. Better days are ahead. Amen.

Isaiah also wrote, ““Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight” (5:21). Some have gone to great lengths in an attempt to convince themselves and others that the universe, life, and consciousness all came about on its own from nothing. They claim to be intelligent, logical, and wise, but their striving to deny the existence of God are anything but. The day will come will they will find themselves face to face with the God they denied and rejected, and all of their so-called scholarly wisdom will be of no avail.
"The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'” (Proverbs 14:1). Amen.
