Enchanting,” “Irresistible,” and “Charming,” are but three words out of many that describe one of Ireland’s most acclaimed performers. A rare combination of storyteller, author, singer, songwriter and social activist, Sands’ reviews come from politicians and major authors as well as fellow musicians and music reviewers. Sands has become an integral part of the Irish folk music revival and a one-of a kind North Ireland native, whose music is often found to speak louder than violence. From the pioneering days with the highly influential Sands Family, bringing Irish Music from New York’s Carnegie Hall to Moscow’s Olympic Stadium, he has developed into one of the most powerful songwriters and revered solo performers in Ireland.

The first half of the concert will be a conversation with Stephen Bauman, whose podcast ‘Living in the Meantime…’ is a weekly discussion about making meaning in life’s in-between seasons—when the future feels uncertain and the old ways no longer fit. Tommy’s whole life has been about bringing meaning to a world that rarely makes sense.

The rites of Holy Week are at the very heart of the Christian year, indeed of our Christian faith. The liturgies during this time are intense, embodied, and deeply engage our senses and emotions - and for many of us they are, year after year, the most meaningful and life-changing services of the church. Join us this Sunday as we welcome Kalos to kick off our spring concert series! “Music inspired by the maritime traditions of Scotland, Ireland…They revel in the driving danceability of Irish tunes, but also take inspiration from the pastoral melodies and naturalistic metaphors of Scottish music. But while the music they write is forged in tradition, it is nonetheless cast and tempered in new and unexpected ways.” Tickets on our website www.ctkstoneridge.org/concerts

"Remember his name. His name is Ali. Not a number, or a process. But a living image bearer of an incarnate God. And that’s exactly who we are, too. Every single one of us. You matter, you count, your story is part of God’s pageant. You are light. And in the child, in the stories we tell again tonight, that is the gift of Christmas, and it cannot be taken away, unless you and I give it away, and decide that we are indeed simply numbers to be sorted, people without stories, subject only to the decree of the Caesars of this or any age."
